Hi everybody,
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to cut off the head grow/flower tip when growing an autoflower..
Or is that not a good idea with autoflowering strains?

Welcome to the site natural. Apparently it's not a good idea to do any topping/fimming or cloning as autoflowers grow to their own time schedule. They may not have time to recover from the topping.
Enjoy your stay! We look forward to seeing your grow

:smokebuds:No I wouldn't.That would be the main cola and the biggest bud producer, just let her grow naturaly and you will be better off.

All it will do is set the plants back a week or so while they recover and in the end, won't increase, in fact it could decrease, your yields. Autos only have a 5-6 week veg period and it's critical to get them as big as possible during that time for maximum yields.

In my first autoflower grow, I accidentally topped 4x lowlife white widows. (dropped a light fixture on them). ... And while they did recover, my yields were fairly poor. I got about 20g per plant. Contrast that to my current grow, my first plant to be harvested (HBD) yielded about 60g.

So, my advise based solely on anecdotal evidence would be that topping is a bad idea with autoflowers.

Good question! I didn't top mine, but I did lst her.........So, we'll see how mine turn out. She's looking good so far (knock on wood) but I haven't crossed the finish line yet.........lol. Heck, I just barely got a full lap in............

Thank you all for the answers!
So I won't top my tutti frutti autoflower plant.
Thanks for the help!
Greetz!

Do you have pictures to show? I would like to see a tutti frutti pot plant, lol........where did you get that from if you don't mind me asking? You know, where you are from is supposed to be marijuana heaven, do you find it to be true?

i top my Northern Lights autos for either 2 or 4 colas. after germination you must grow them as quickly as possible. usually after 8 days i have a cotyledon and 2 nodes above that. top above the 2nd true node for 4 colas and above the true 1st node for 2 colas. doing it this early does not set them back and i have excellent yeilds. the main reason for topping is not to increase yields but to keep the plant shorter. i wouldn't recommend topping after day 9. a question Po boy... I'm interested in a couple of things.. Have you grown them out without topping too??? If so what day did they show sex topped vs untopped??? The reason I ask is every time I have topped my strains of autos(RRF and RRF x Purple Jems) they delay sex by up to 2 weeks vs untopped mine normally show sex at day 12-16... as a side note everyone I topped (there's not been many..lol..) grew into a bigger plant overall, took 2-3 weeks longer to show sex and to finish but did not yield much if any more for it... I don't mind bigger but the longer to finish and no noticeable improvement in yield makes me not to top my strains of autos...
