I don't top themI just bend them over and give them regular haircuts weekly...anything that blocks/covers a bud site gets cut! I don't use gel..... they recover overnight ...on my big thai plant I even snapped a main cola at the base, we tie wrapped it in place immediately...no problems still budding

It could hold it back by a few days or a few wks Max all depends on your plant and growing conditions mate , theres just so many variables :peace:

That makes a lot of sense dex. Sure my temps are a little low at times and so I am guessing it might delay it a couple of weeks, it smells kinda funky so it is probably gearing up to some pre flowers (hope so anyway)

Thanks for sharing your grow info and pictures...very helpful! I too would benefit from low-odor and low-profile grow. What vendor of NL autos do you use?

Nice to see this again..plans in the pipeline and topping and LST will be involved learnt a huge amount last year regarding autos. I a am topping simply because I need low plants and that is reason enough they also get a nice bend up LST style. My summer plants all flowered on day 21 so no delays experiences and more light gets into the multiple bud sites. My early starts were small yielders but still surprisingly potent despite the spring start.

Regarding Northern lights... I did a couple last year but they were not quite good enough with an early start. Not sure about exact vendors. I would do a search for Northern light auto on here and your fave choice of search engine, either than or create a new topic. They are indeed a less smelly strain as far as I recall, much less smelly than some.

This plant got stunted due to underwatering (and not filling the pot with wet soil so it settled a LOT too late), but it was topped It's almost pure bud.

This is really good information for those who need to grow low and I know you are out there Po Boy posted it originally :

"i top my Northern Lights autos for either 2 or 4 colas. after germination you must grow them as quickly as possible. usually after 8 days i have a cotyledon and 2 nodes above that. top above the 2nd true node for 4 colas and above the true 1st node for 2 colas. doing it this early does not set them back and i have excellent yeilds. the main reason for topping is not to increase yields but to keep the plant shorter. i wouldn't recommend topping after day 9. Everythingshazy... the great thing with that is you can hardly see any 5 or 7 fingered leaves. Some may not even know thats herb except for the smell. Looks more like some Bonsai thing you picked up at the garden centre. Topping is all about stealth for me. Low plants mean less is seen and thats what I need.
