IMG_1484.jpgIMG_1492.jpgWeek 8 Day 50

Not much happening just an update mainly for my records

Well i bought a temporary cheapo PH pen and it seems my tap water was high..PH 7.5. My issues seem to only have occurred on switching to flowering nutes and i am still not sure if it is a P issue or a Cal issue or a mixture. Some leaves looked distinctly P def other had the red mottling of Cal def. I am in a hard water area but the PH could have led to a cal uptake problem

Well i bought some PH down with the pen as my guess was i had high PH ( which was right) I am now getting PH 6.0 in and Runoff at PH 7.0 so i think the root zone is around PH 6.5, but i will have to do further test as this was the first PH adjust I did

I have also removed most of the affected leaves, i know i said i was not going to prune but this way i get a clearer picture of whether the def is ongoing and also i clear some leaves for the buds to beef up.

not sure how well my buds are doing, they look good and are full of trichs i just hope they start fattening up. The strain is said to be 64 - 75 days but most growers seem to have gone 80 + days which is what i am planning on.

Here are some very quick ( sh*t quality) bud pics, odour is slight, noticeable when i brush a flower but not stinking the house out..or is it ? Maybe i am just used to it !!

Sorry images are all sideways !!!

Looks good, red. Your plants are full of resin.

Well i knew this would be the make or break phase.. and it is. One plant is quite poorly, another has gone almost totally yellow. I will post some pics soon. All are still flowering OK so I hope to be able to salvage them, in fact the one that has gone totally yellow has the best buds. I know yellowing is to be expected in late flower, but from the bottom up, this is a total almost shocked yellowing. I wonder if it was a PH change shock ? I went from 7.5/8.0 to 6.3/6.5 overnight ( i should have been more gradual)

I now have an EC meter as well as a PH pen and till i hear otherwise I am using my tap water EC has a zero point, so if i need a EC of 1.6 and My tap water is 0.5 then i make up the final EC to 2.1, no this is not what caused the issues, the issues seemed to have developed progressively since i went to flowering nutes and lowered/ stopped my grow nutes.

In fact growth was fine during veging when i was guesstimating the nute requirements

My guess is I have been underfeeding at least 2 of them during flowering, I also think i need to add growth nutes for the extra nitrogen and least up untill the last 2 weeks, one of which will be a flush week. I am at the end of week 8 day 56 above soil and am looking at another 28 days or so, hopefully i can turn things around, however i am perplexed that the yellow plant has the best buds

I am planing to go Hydro RDWC next, and it some ways i think it will be more tweakable than soil, as i have immediate and direct control over EC and PH. thing is with these 4 plants being so different it has helped me to decide to build an isolation design into my RDWC so that if needed i can take a plant out of the loop and deal with it's requirements on an individual basis. also as i plan to SCROG i have decided to go RDWC so that i have easy access to a head pot, if i have to isolate a plant then it would be a case of tube feeding manually so as not to disturb the plant so much. Also with a RDWC these is less PH and EC pooling and salt/nutrient build up will be minimized

Update With Pics Week 9 Day 57

Got the girls in the gym for a workout..

Images show are the poorly one that is still battling on.. we leave no one behind !!
Then I have the one that was severely yellowing, i upped grow nutes to bring in more nitrogen and she seems to be greening up somewhat. but wow here buds are simply the best.

2 others are showing fairly good green leaves and reasonable flowers

Deficiencies or not i just love all these autumn colours i am getting. Just hope the smoke is as pleasing

Virtually every plant is showing distinct differences, which is worrying me for a future RDWC grow, i am tempted to use clones and this would mean going photo

Though i am really working hard with the nutes using the leaves for diagnosis, with only 3 feeding weeks left ( assuming i go 12 weeks) I am going to concentrate my efforts on flowering, leaves will start autumn fade now if they have not already

Some of your girls are to far gone to worry about the leaves.Looks like severe lockout of phos, potasium, and nitrogen def.The other ones are not tha bad yet so you might want to add some cal-mag and some nutes with NPK.I have two tran siberians at 62 days and are doing well. I found that they are heavy feeders and I had to add more nitrogen because the leaves were turning light green. They have greened up now and are doing fine

Well i am trying to slowly boost their nutes, I am more concerned about the very close leaves that would be trimmed at the harvest, if these improve i will know i am in the right direction. I am finding this part terrifying...the thought of losing one now !!!

Namvet..got any pics ?

Hey Redevil,

Nice budz dude, some of those girls have some size on them.. I might be worng but progressive building of nutes is done to prevent Overfert in my eyes.. As your couple of yellow girls are quite far from overferting i would just mix up a 2.0EC mix for your last 2-3 Weeks of flower.. I might be wrong, but thats what id do in your situation to try and make sure the final chmical process you cant see but is the most important part happens properly..

I flushed to early on my first 3 grows and now i run the nutes longer my Budz are much stronger.. You do have some great looking colas there dude, props..

Good luck with the finnish,
Sparks

P.s check those bigger colas for rot and mold towards the end of flower.. I cant see any but yellow plants will have weaker immune system and will be more likely to catch something and as they are big wet sopping buds they will be the perfect breeding ground. What is your RH% mate? - Thats the only way you could loose a whole plant so be vigilent!

Thanks, RH is at 40 - 45 % temp at around 80F, i will keep a close eye out for and bud problems and i will give them a good feed over the last 3 weeks ( 1 week will be for flush), crazy thing is there are still bud sites developing

Frosty

Strands are not from spider mites, they have been there for a while and i just think a passing spider got a bit of a freak out..i saw one in the tent a week or so ago
