Hello all,

This is where I will post my grows moving forward. I do have a question though to get started. I have a couple seedlings that just popped but im going away for 10 days. Could i Hook them up to the auopots at a low EC like .4? Im afraid to give them plain water because theyre going to be needy here soon, but i dont want to overdo it too. Whats your take?

What size pot are you growing them in? Soil or something else?

They'll be totally fine in fully saturated coco for 10 days. Coco stays wetter then people give it credit for until the plants really start to drink in flower
hmm so i could just fill the little autopot reservoir with RO water until it stops wicking? No nutrients, correct? What if they get hungry a couple days after i leave?

Im realizing my humidifier will run dry, so ill either need to create a larger reservoir add-on for my humidifier, or ill need to put a glass mason jar over the plant.. my humidity is like 30% and itll get lower this winter... I bet i could hook my RO hose up with a float valve.. Or use a 10 gallon container.

Never just plain RO in coco... Never. Low dose nutes. As long as the pot is fully saturated, 350ppm-ish and your ph is good, they won't come close to drinking all that in 2 weeks. I like to ph around 5.5 with seedlings since they don't drink and the ph always rises. You washed and buffered your coco, or got pre-buffered? Check the runoff and ph? Initial setup is really the key to a good start with coco

Hmmm. did i wash and buffer properly? I didnt wash but i did a psuedo-buffer. I didnt feel like researching properly, so i mixed up a calmag solution at the standard dose and added it till it seemed like the coco was fairly full. Its a mix of mother earth coco used and unused, 50% perlite or so (added some).

So coco comes from the "hair" on the outside of actual coconuts that are collected from floating in the ocean. Very common for it to have real ocean salt in it - not great for plants and especially seedlings. Best practice is to hydrate the coco and check the runoff to see what you're working with. If the runoff is under 500, that's when you want to buffer with the calmag (ph'd). This step fills the coco with calcium since coco will naturally pull the CA from your nutes if it's not full. Next step to buffering is to soak in balanced low dose nutes (ph'd). Then you're ready to roll. Majority of the work with coco growing is in the initial setup
