How many people start there seed in a small pot then transplant them, Co pared to just starting your seed in the pot your plant will finish in. Does starting your seed in the pot your going to finish in, make that much difference. Like to know, starting next grow

Lots of growers start in small pots and tranfer to bigger pots. I am from the school of germinating, then dropping seeds into their one and only pots for the duration.

I have used starter cups (mini-Solo's, actually), but I'm probably going to move away from it for a more "keep it simple" style. My thinking is that if there is no real reason to use a different starter pot, why do it? Even if it's a long shot, a transplant is an opportunity for something to go wrong. Why take the chance if you don't need to?

There are some legit reasons, though. For example if you use a nutrient rich soil mix that is a little too hot for a seedling, starting in a smaller batch of milder soil makes sense. Or if you wanted to be able to fit more plants under fewer lights while they're younger to save a few bucks on electric.

Lots-o-things to weigh when making the decision. Sorry..probably not much help as I vote for doing both. :crying::baked:

In our current situation we plant seeds directly into 5 gallon buckets. I prefer to not provide opportunities for stress, and transplanting stresses the plants. We also had really bad results transplanting autos prior to using this method.

I have had solid results doing standard transplants, but in order to avoid any possible issues i now exclusively use DIY instatransplant pots

I think I will Paper Towel my seed and then pop it in the final pot. I like usING Myco's . Shame I can only put Mycos in the seed whole. Or can I pre mix it in the soil

Mykos can be added to the soil.. But it only works if the roots come in contact with it. So you need to add it before you plant ... If you want to add it to feeds sfter youve planted, then you will need a version of mykos that is water soluble. I use Elite Gardens Root Igniter.
