New Grower Trapper's Scrimmage Grow (Semi-Micro)

From what I have read and/or saw on youtube is that if you use more than needed, they just sit there in suspended animation. I don't think they have gone bad until they are dry and hard. So you can use more for insurance and then reuse the same ones when no longer needed on their current assignment.

Yuppers, seems the case to me...except I imagine that all three are still taxed, just to a lesser degree...and once things hit 62%, they stay in stasis unless opened.

Yeah they are, that was all I ment,is its just not necessary is all.you can use 20 of em..lol but just not to expose them and keep em for future stuff.two should be quite enough if you dried em decent. No worries. How many days did you get to actually dry the buds before ya jarred em.?"AFN smoke out"

Thanks, Chandy...I'll give her a whirl...:)

Well, That couldn't have been more on point...it actually, specifically addressed my assumptions point for point.....cool, Thanks!
Gonna go do it right now!

And Thanks, Medi for bringing it up!
Dont mess about me trap! :)

Well I dried them in a box (with almost no stems, mind you) for 3 days, then, upon jarring them, saw that the RH was still too high, then took them back out and box-dried them for another 24 hours and they began to get that dry, crispiness on the outside, so I jarred em back up. Something that probably complicates things here in Southwest Colorado is the very low ambient RH....even after raining off and on all day today, I was reading 46% RH. On a regular day, it's averaging from 25%-30% RH. So I think it dries the outside of the bud and the smaller, looser ones much faster than the cores of the thicker, denser ones. That's one of the reasons I'm overdoing the packs a bit....and putting them in a bit earlier. But they appear to be holding 67-68% at the moment. (well, before I put all the hygrometers in a tupperware with some salt & water, anyway :) )

Sticking my nose in the jars right now....getting distinct, exact, fresh, juicy red grape. :) Like the big, seeded red grapes, not the purple Concords.

Thats right you did the individual Buds, sorry.memory n crap.well if you got a very slight crisp after 3 and a half days say of drying and can still lightly feel moistness under that, imo your still too moist.only by a little but imo still a touch too moist for the best taste and texture imo.Ive never done the individual buds cuz it seems too backward especially since Ive learned through years or hard knocks learning how to cure n dry my buds more traditional.but i know what a well dried n ready for jar bud feels like..lol.and if imo ya can feel more moistness than a mild fluffy spungetype feeling, but not cripsy to the point of crunchy.its too moist.you'll see what I mean eventually brother.just you'll have to squeeze it sliiightly harder than yer doin now.slightly harder, dont smash like this one guy I knew...It was the funniest thing Ive seen in years actually.I told him to give his dried bud a good squeeze not thinkin he was gonna frigin jam his thumb n forefinger together with his freshly dried bud in between them..it was flat as flat is dude..lol.I wish I had a picture.:roflcry:

But ya if yer keepin em in there, three paks is prolly a safe bet man.How long till your done moving n stuff ya think man?or is this move like a month long thing..?bummer ya couldnt flip it around n pop some bean dude, right off.oh well.I'll eat a cookie for ya man. lol:pighug:

edit: a good rule of thumb so to speak is,when ya slightly squeeze it it should lightly bounce back and keep its shape somewhat instead of leaving a slight indent.

To be honest, I didn't have the guts to squeeze a bigger one....they were crispy to the point of stuff coming off a little on the outside so I handled them very gently so that dry stuff could be recovered "UP" by the Bovedas.

It's just a weird set of circumstances with such a low ambient RH.....

Oh, and as to moving, yeah it'll be a month long thing if not 6 weeks, starting now and with the Landlord doing a walk-through to identify that we get all of our deposit back, I had to go to zero on everything. Still need to find a place in the new town and work is entering into the heavy cycle as it relates to client's needing stuff.

To share my experience, since it almost sounds similar to your's... I dried mine hanging up in my tent for 3 days, and I rotated them so they weren't getting too much fan on either hanger.. Well, 3 days, and the outsides feel like they would crumble off on some of the smaller ones, and my RH hadn't gone about 45% the entire time, so I threw them in the jars with the hygrometers and Bovedas in the mid-morning.. That night, went to bed, humidity was up to 60%-ish.. I wake up the next day, my humidity spiked to almost 80% over night, even with the 60g Boveda!!! I took all of the bud out and sealed the Bovedas back up to make sure they were working right.. I threw all of my buds in a paper bag with the top open, back in my tent with the fan blowing over the top of the bag.. Next morning I woke up, RH of about 40%, threw them in the jars and by that night, both jars were up in the 50's, one almost in the 60's.. Next morning, both jars are resting between 60-62%.. Since then, the only times they went over 65% was when I left a jar in my truck for a couple hours not thinking it was gonna matter, and the temp was at 90F and humidity in the jar was 67%, but when they cooled down, everything normalized again..

Not sure if that helps, or make any sense to you, but figured after reading your stuff that it sounds like almost the same thing happened to you, as it did to me!!

How's it tasting after a few days of normal drying??
