New Grower Trapper's Scrimmage Grow (Semi-Micro)

Man that IS beautiful bro!!if you make it anywhere near pipline try n take a pic er fifty for me.LOL!Awww,man. mere words dont describe how jealous I am.LOL!well dude Im roll out fer the night.Be safe, have fun n burn a fatty on the beach for our AFN family too if ya can man.LOL!be good bro."AFN smoke out"

We won't make it to O'ahu but I ain't complaining! Plenty to see and do on the big island. Sidenote: The North Shore of O'ahu (Pipeline) just experienced it's biggest swell in over 50 years 2 and a half months ago....:help::help::help:

Okay guys and gals...

The day of germination is rapidly approaching...

Here's what I DO know:

Suggested distance of LED to seedling
What I'm going to do for soil prep as far as a Great White Drench (not soaking)
General amount of Perlite I'll add to the FFHF
Oxygenated ph'd water for the first week
Light cycle I'll be using

Here are my first (of many) rounds of questions:

1 - Does introducing supplemental Co2 at this stage (seedling) do any good? or is that solely to improve photosynthesis once shade leaves are present?
2 - What is my desired Fº/RH for good seedling development? Since I live in a dry climate, should I cover the seedling with clear plastic cover?
3 - I was planning on germing "in soil" as opposed to "paper towel" (I'm patient and the genetics are good) anyone take issue with that as a plan?
4 - Along those lines ^ ^ ^...what depth should my seed hole be? First knuckle? (about an inch)
5 - Just damp soil (one little shot of water to the already damp soil at the seed site) until she breaks daylight? (theory: damp not wet)
6 - How much Gardening Lime (if any) should I add to the FFHF? (3 Gallon Air Pot)

I know some of these sound obvious....just trying to get definitive confirmation before moving forward.

well if yer taling about CO2 at the germing stage nah.But once they are up n green I personally apply it esp. if the conditions are less than ideal. It helps with stress,Heat and develop at a bit of a faster rate.imo ofcourse.

yer prolly looking at about 80F till the fisrt n second set of leaves develop then lower the temps a lil more to the range where autos like to live if ya can.if not use CO2 and Silica.Id cover em to achieve roughly 70-80% RH.make sure ya got airflow or uncover em a few imes a day.they gota breath.

imho id always germ right in the final grow pot.less chance of loss of bean if handling it,screwing up the tap root or drying out as easily.right in the finalpot imo.

1/4 inch down as a standad rule, yet 1/2 inch seems to establish a far stronger root structure for a sprout.so 1/2 inch man.

yeah damp not wet.water in in with a dropper of a spray bottle nice n hit it if you can take a toothpick n play with the soil a bit and it looks dry'ish.always dampp not wet.except for the watering in of the ssed imo.

air pots n FF I dont use.sorry bro.LOL!hope hat helps ya bro."AFN smoke out"

Okay, next concern.

I have some general "rules of thumb" for watering schedule...

Straight ph'd water for the first week
Very mild grow solution for week 2-5 (generally)...maybe ramping to a a bit more concentrated towards week 4
Very mild bloom solution for week 6-9 (generally) the onset of which stops vertical growth and pushes the plant to flowering.
Push blooming until tips of plant get burned, then back off just a bit.
Keep an eye out for Calcium or Magnesium deficiencies...molasses or Lime to correct but not so much as to "lock out" nutes.
My water here is very high in minerals so that ^ ^ ^ may not be an issue. Test for Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
Flush with Straight water again for a week or so

The question:

What data and input do I use to come up with a specific watering/feeding schedule?

I assume that frequency of watering is reliant on how it's draining/drying and how the plant is responding to being fed.

What, exactly is meant by slight run-off? I assume a small amount of water spilling over the top...but isn't that determined by how slowly or rapidly one delivers the water?

I think that runoff refers to water coming out of the bottom of the pot. I think you want a fair amount of water to drain through. Say you have a 2 gallon pot you want to water slowly until a cup or two drips from the bottom.

When to water is a tough one. Depends on your medium, humidity, temps all that. Better to under water then over water. Water your plants thoroughly by giving them a good soak then leave them be for probably 2-3 days. By lifting the pot you can get a pretty good idea or stick your finger an inch down. If dirt sticks to your finger then it's probably moist. They do make moisture meters, but I'm not sure how accurate they are.

If you are growing in soil you may not want to ph your water. I hope someone else can shed light on this. From what I have read you shouldn't. When you nute at 1/2 tsp per gallon the ph of your water may be just around 6.5. Mine is, but my tap water is 8.0.

I visited Pipeline only for an afternoon. It was magic. I didn't surf because it's way past my skill level, but it's the most beautiful beach I have ever been to. The sand is amazing. You just sink in it.

Thanks!

RE: sinking in the sand at Pipeline...I can imagine. I bet most of that sand is hyper saturated from those massive swells....

Well the only thing I would do slightly different is add about a cup of lime, to 2 bags of soil.help maintain the PH a bit more easily imho.rough measurement that I add to mine all the time with nute grows and have never had an issue.yet anyways.LOL! But Tangs feeding schedule as a KILLER Template is prolly the way to go dude.atleast imho.there are many excellent nute growers bouncin around here and when I learned nutes in this modern era of chems n such I used his grows as a guide as well as others so Id just use that 50 dude.

I could give ya a biasic guide to what I Do but(looks like ya got a solid grasp on where to head ,sooo) it wouldnt do it justice to a template such as his.or many others for that matter.LMFAO!

maaan I hate you both.LOL! one has been there and another could be goin.YA'LL SUCK!!LMAO!I wanna FEEELLL the waves from standing on the beach and the power of a swell with that much force from the beach.its a RAARE feeling from that distance.maaaaaaaan.guess ill jus go burn one n burry the sadness..:crying: :dance2:

Subbed to Tangs feeding schedule for reference later. Thanks!

Next Item: Molasses as amendment for Cal Mag Deficiency - teaspoon per gallon - later 2/3rds of flowering - When LED grows tend to exhibit Cal Mag deficiencies...

Must it be fed this solution independent of Other Bloom nutes such as tiger bloom? can they be added together?

Another Item: Does the low N in Bloom nutes allow for the plant to consume the rest of the N in it's leaves thereby bringing about maturity and "readiness to harvest" (Cue Doors Music)

Could adding a little Grow Big to the flowering nutes prolong life and hold off (or slow down) the rate at which the plant finally reaches maturity?

from what Ive read about LED's they produce more calmag def. you can use Molasses(black strap is best, grandmas is alright) to push it through some. But get a seperate Cal mag suppliment thats a little higher end.I used both and used molasses half way thru flower to increase the sugars some for the sweetness in the tatse n smoke. But that debateable.I notice a small diffenence.but thats me.thats why I use sugar in the raw.

the lower N in bloom nutes will give you that ability to back feed the fan leaves then just flat stop and clense(strip away with a rinse) or flush with water n that'll work just fine.cleanse is faster by several days but thats all Ive ever done tobe honest and got great results.flushing may be beter I truly, cant tell ya either way imo.but Id thik its the way to go.jus never doneit. And ya man, Ive added cal mag supps with and without nutes seems to work just fine fer me.well, when I grew with nutes.LOL!

and the last question is just a style of growing or really fine tuning your grow.thats a great question since in my huble opinion it can do that and does imo,but thats a strain specific type of thing.well thats my opinion anywho,I dunno fer a fact.Wiara er Tang er heck many of them other dudes would know better than I.

The crystal ship is beeeing built :dance2:
