Grow Mediums Trip's New Autopot Run

First off, sweet DIY light bother! :headbang::pass::headbang:
I'd leave it where it's at Trippy. I just went and measuered my cob fixtures for ya, I don't measure I just guess any more. I have a my closest at 32", farthest is 36" above the pots. One thing you'll learn that is different from your Mars is it's best to let your plants grow into the light. Those 1212's are way more effecient giving you a lot more light. I let them grow into the light till I see stress then raise them slightly. I've noticed the tops can be close to the cobs and not hurt them if they are off to the side a bit and not directly under the cob, I get them within 12". I don't train for the most part, lil leaf tucking at most.
you couldnt have worded this any better for me my friend!:slap:

Somewhere here I posted some pictures of 2 seperate grows with 1tsp calmag and the second grow I used 3 tsp of calmag. With that much light I wouldn't be surprised you were getting up there too.
I wouldn't pour it in until you need to but trust me you will need to.

What's crazy is I designed the same exact light wired the same exact way. The center cobs and outer cobs on different drivers. The only difference was your center 2 I had set as 4000k. I still haven't finished the light as I started it before I went into biz. Being dimmable and for the space you should do well. Stay high for now. Each cob at 50w is equal to a 300w LED panel as far as par watts goes
ok yea in week 7-8 i noticed alot of calmag def in my girls that were under this and i had then up to 2.25ml/L i believe.. i usually top out at 1.5-1.75ml/l under my mars when they are running hard and close. im very excitied to see what i can do with this light Sm0 but im scared ill fry them/get small bushy plants with too much light or wont give them enough light. i will keep it at 36" and try to get some pics up tomorrow without the Green in the pics to show their progress so far. i may have to cull the GC im not sure yet....

sorry I've been slow to respond, just getting over a possible new flu strain......... kicked my ass something fierce!

How high to run them depends how much power they are using. The harder you run them, the higher you'll need them in veg. I'm running my new QB light at 36"! Plants are loving it. I'd say no closer than 24" during veg and in flower, run hard, probably 18". Some strain will tolerate the light a little closer. I'd run them at 18" and watch them close for a few days. Light burn will show up and the leaf tips first, they'll get a little yellow. If so, raise the light a bit. The Green Monster I'm growing now won't take it closer than 24"!!
no worries pop! i hope you feel better soon! yea in flower i was at 16" and getting light stress and deficiencies from being too close so i took it up to 19 for the tail end of flower.

Here is a Double Grape, you gotta try these when the become available this summer, it's with a few inches of the fixture but in between 2 1212's. They started off 32-36 inches under the cobs, the tallest grew to 38" so I just raised the light a few inches at the end of thier stretch.

Toofless Alien 32" from top of 7gal pot, shes in her stretch right now at just over 18" and growing fast. The three zamnesia classic skunks are about 36" away in 5 gallon pots. I'll leave the light where it's at till I see stress on the alien.

Very nice start! I wish I could play with COBs but it is just not in the finances this year. :pass:
I suggest save up for them brotha, I love them........ ALREADY :funny: I like them because you can piece together your light in accordance with your finances... say you want to do a 4 cob fixture, save up some money for the driver and 2 cobs, ect and just rig the frame to run 2 cobs until you can afford to add the other 2 cobs...

Subbed up man! Can't wait to see what these autopots can do under cobs!
I CANNOT wait either!:headbang:

Looking good!

thanks Pop, I went away Friday and I'm excited to see how much they have grown over the weekend!:eyebrows:
