So, this is my first grow with Auto's for one, DWC for two and LED for the hat-trick. Oh, and i got twins... So any advice as we go is greatly appreciated.

So we are about a week in from seed so far. Got twins with my first seed, this means i have two plants in the same bucket. :jump:

The mix i have in the res atm is Ritzatronic and formulex at 0.9EC, my PH will not settle and likes to hang around 6-6.1. My res temp is changing a lot through the days, had it down to 15c and up to 25c. I have been leaving my bucket in another bucket filled with ice water but this need to be changed at least every 4 hours to keep the temp under 20c.

I dropped the PH right down to 5.3 and after 4 hours was at 5.7, 4 hours later and back to 6.. Is this because of res temp???

The second set of leaves are starting to curl up at the edges, almost looks like nuit burn but i have a suspicion it may have something to do with the LED being too close or too far, it is currently at 18-19cm any thoughts.?

Here are some pics anyway. I will be updating when ever i get a chance to use this laptop again...

DWC is not an easy method to start growing with, there's a lot to get to grips with and a lot that needs controlling. It sounds like temperatures are swinging a lot too. I might back that lamp off them a bit until you can do something to stabilise your temperatures. If you get things right, with twins in the same DWC you will have a real fun grow. Try to figure a way to stabilise temps, good luck

Yes, DWC can be difficult for beginners, I just finished my first dwc grow not that long ago. What I was doing to keep the res cool was I was putting a 2 litre bottle of ice in the res, this needed to be done twice a day. I wouldnt think of running my DWC in the summer heat we get here and I'm in Canada we're supposed to be cold. dont forget to sterilize your bottles if you try this method, also you will need to rinse them off and sterilize after use as you will notice salts sticking to it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice guys, my main concern is the folding of the leaves. It seems to be getting worse. As i am using LED (189x-gen) the temps in the room are not changing i raised the light a couple of inches last night as it looks like one is just drying out.
I am finding it strange that they have been grown together from seed and are twins, reacting differently as it is only 1 that is really struggling.

I am going to introduce some silica tonight.

I will have more pics up soon. The roots look really nice to me but i never really seen them in my soil grows, the tap roots are crazy long and its only day 8 from seed.

I cant see the pics they come back as invalid when i click on them. It's very possible you have 2 different phenos. Just because they are the same plant doesnt mean they feed/eat the same.

My water is probably the problem now you mention it. I am just using tap water with a starting background of 9PH and 0.0Ec. Add rhitz, PH rises to about 11-12. Add Formulex to Ec 0.9 PH drops to around 6.5-7. Then adding PH - Grow till i get the 5.8...

ANY advice appreciated.

Also if someone would like to let me know how i can upload the pics so they are not just attachments would be good.. Not a fan of computers... :P

a ph of 9 is not going to work in any hydroponic situation. The ph needs to stay between 5.5 and 5.8.

OK things I would do too try and get things settled,

1: with a ph of 9 I would a try letting the water stand for a day or 2 before you mix the neuts up, that will drop the ph abit
2: move the res out of the tent if possible, finda a spot thats as cool as you can for it then use a aquarium heater to bring the temps up, thats better than having them go up and down all the time.
3: back offf the neuts untill it settles down, less is always better until the problems are solved, I certaily wouldnt start adding silica and more chems till they were right again.
