Hi guys,
I was hoping for a wee bit of help? Took the decision to have a go at indoor autos after a read up. Bought 120x60x160 tent and accessories. Ive also bought Coco coir/John innes 2/perlite and 2x20litre plus 2x12 litre fabric bags.My questions are;
A) How many plants should I try in tent space?
B) What grow medium is best?
C) Can anyone advise on suitable led for size of tent?
Glad for any advice ..ive become overwhelmed by reading too much
Cheers all.

Hey @Bud-geregards and welcome to AFN my Man!

in a tent that size I would stick to 2 - 3 plants and train them out to get the best light penetration... grow medium depends on your system but if this is your first time i would recommend you grow in soil, to get the hang of it. Plus soil can be a little less work... ha har, LED's are my thing, whats your budget?

here saved ya some on the welcome joint, have fun

Hey there Bud, welcome :welcome::toke:
Good luck on your grow. :thumbsup:
I'm a fellow Brit too :eyebrows:

So let's crack on with some answers:
A: Depends on your technique and environment really. Personally in a 4x2 space I'd go 3 in the 12ltr pots but you'd do well with 2 in the 20ltr pots too.

B: How hands on are you going to be with the grow? If you want to dive in the deep end you can use coco with perlite 70/30 and a full line of nutrients which need mixing at specific ratio's. I've done this for my last two grows and ended up with decent results. You'll need a good pH pen and an EC trunchoen/meter doing it this way though!
Having said that my next run will be with BioTabs in coco. This is an organic feed that you mix at the start and only feed water to for the rest of the grow. Some add a "tea" during the cycle too.
I haven't done soil for years, so can't advise on that.

C: Can I ask a few things first...
  1. Do you have a ballpark figure for your lights?
  2. Are you up for DIY or do you want a pre-built model?
  3. How fast do you want your lights to arrive?
Once you have all your kit, it would be worth setting it up and running it for 24hrs before germing your seeds. This way you can see what your temps and humidity are which will give you time to correct for this before starting your grow (heaters/humidifier etc.).

Regards, Chronic

Need a pre-built bud..total amateur!
Thx for advice and your time pal!

I think you're gonna struggle to get a decent LED unit that will give you the coverage you want at that price.
You could probably get a decent HPS setup for that kinda budget.

For under £100 you could get a 600w complete HPS lighting system ... for another 50 you could add a nice aircooled hood.

LEDs cost quite a bit upfront .. but pay themselves off over years (if they're good quality) ... or you may be able to pick up some older tech at that price!

I think @blue is right I'm afraid. Double that would get an ISH250 from @Invisible Sun LED but that's a kit. It wouldn't take much to put together (just a couple of wires).

If budget really is tight maybe @MarshydroTina has something to offer?

@Slater is the man to ask about LED's in blighty really... he advised me on my recent purchase.
