I currently use Ball 2 quart jars for storage. They are called Wide Mouth ... I would like to be able to vacuum seal the jars .... The jar attachments I've been able to find all say they fit either standard or wide mouthed quart jars but make no mention of 2 quart jars ... does anyone know if the 1 quart wide mouth sealer fits the 2 quart wide mouthed jar or know of any way to vacuum seal them.

Thanks ... :dunno:

Maybe something like this

Could go old school canning and just heat the jar a bit before sealing. I heated my jars in a pot of water, added my bud and the tops sucked right down when they cooled

I'd like to be able to seal and unseal the jars w/o the resealing being a chore ... for me, weed does well in a glass jar w/ a Boveda for a little over 12 months .... I think vacuum sealing could double that time ... thanks for the input.

Purchased a Wide Mouth vacuum seal attachment and a hand held Vacuum .... according to info gathered on the net all wide mouth mason jars use the same size attachment whether they are 1 quart or 2 quart or smaller ... everything should arrive shortly ... I'll report back after trying them out.

I was gonna say, lol, that they should fit all "wide-mouth" jars if they are wide mouth lids.

Same goes for smal mouth.

What? Are we bass fishing?

Good Luck with this Chester

I agree Eek but the box for the Wide Mouth attachment only listed wide mouth pint and wide mouth quart jars ... Hopefully I'll have good news to report in a couple weeks.

I heard from Boveda re. Vacuum Sealing and was advised against it ... very fast response ...

Chester: Can I use a 60 gram Boveda pack in a 1/2 gal jar that I will be vacuum sealing for long term storage ...

Boveda response: We don't recommend using our products in conjunction with a vacuum container, using that method puts undue stress on the seams of the Boveda packaging and you run a high risk of it imploding if you did that. If the jar seals well enough and it is not opened and closed regularly you should see an excellent product lifespan from the Boveda you are using.

I'm happy to report that the Wide Mouth Jar attachment allows vacuum sealing of 1/2 gal Ball Jars and it works great with a hand held vacuum sealer.

Ive used 1/2 gal jars with my foodsaver with bodeva packs inside with no issues. FWIW

Thanks for the information Treeman ... I've used the 1/2 gal jars w/ Bovedas for some time now but I'm looking to try longer term (over 1 yr) and I wanted to vacuum seal ... you're saying that you have vacuum sealed bovedas ... are they the 60 gram (large) or smaller (4-8 gms)? Thanks again for the input.
