Talk has been picking up here on the subject of vape pens, so I thought I'd post my experience at this point ( I'm really just beginning ).
I bought a Cloupour Cloutank M3 a couple months ago. Its a dry herb pen. Its well made, and can use dry herb or wax/hash. I really wanted to vape though. So I just bought an Innokin iClear 16b clearomiser.
Features:
I made some VG/PG ( 50/50 blend ). O used a small glass jar that pimentos cane in, holds about 2 ounces. I put about 5 grams of dried buds that I broke into pieces by hand, to reduce the number of fines getting thru the filter. I added VG until it covered the bud. I let it soak in then added enough VG to cover the plant matter by about a 1/4". I placed the jar in the upper portion of a double boiler and cooked per http://skunkpharmresearch.com/:
Stir it regularly with a wooden spoon until the mixture reaches 180F, and then adjust the pot temperature controls to maintain 180F.
We stir the mixture regularly with a wooden spoon, for another thirty minutes, and then take it out and allow it to cool to ambient temperature.
For what it’s worth, we use a wooden spoon, because a light tink with a metal spoon against a hot glass jar while stirring, can break it and dump the whole mixture.
After the mixture has cooled to room temperature, we again back up to 180F while stirring regularly. When it reaches 180F, after a through stir, we take it out and let it cool to ambient temperature again.
We repeat the last step about five more times and after the last cook and stir; we filter out the plant material while the mixture is still hot.
I then did the same formula with the PG. Last step was to mix the two together and cook them together for 15 minutes and let it cool then refrigerated.
I warmed it up today when my clearomiser arrived in the mail. I filled the tank with my juice and mounted it on my battery.
I used no flavoring yet. The mixture produced very nice vapor. There was a slight taste of the cannabis, like you get with oil, but very mild and not unpleasant.
As to effectiveness, it took about 6 hits to get a nice buzz. not bad, as 6 hits on a pipe and my lungs would be hiding in my pocket....
So the liquid was a success in my book. I may take it and re-cooked it with another few grams of bud, to see if I can get it just a bit stronger. But I am happy with this as a first ever batch! Now I can vape all day long if I want to, even in public!
