hi just wondering if adding vinegar/lemon juice for lowering ph and baking soda for ph up effects the taste of you buds at all? i been thinking about ph up and down to make it easier but at the same time id feel more comforable using something more natural. :WTF: newbie question i know. but i seen how they effect ph but have not seen if they effect the outcome at all.

That's all i use is vinegar & backingsoda They are organic and flush out just as any other organic product that is used.......Lemon juice takes alot and a long time to stabilize.

My water comes out at 7.8. I use white vinegar or lemon juice to lower it. I've never paid any attention to which was more efficient or easier- just which was ready at hand. Haha

I was just coming to the organics thread to post this about lemon juice. So glad that something is here and other are aware of it. I've used mad farmer ph down for the last 3yrs and was just tired of the stains it leaves on my bathroom counter tops and also all the warnings about it burning because it is an acid! After noticing the lemon suggestion on a brick of GroDan cubes I decided to finally try it.
First I tried squeezing a lemon into my 5gal bucket of water, and it took about 1/2 lemon to bring my oh down to the 6. range. Then I realized that all the lemon pulp was going to run off into my soil and create big problems so I went to the all natural food store and purchased certified organic lemon juice from Santa Cruz, ca. (Refer to pic). I don't even need to test my water anymore because it is so stable and works immediately, I add 15ml of lemon juice to 5gal of water for a perfect 6.2ph. I also let the water sit there for a couple days for a test, and the lemon juice holds a steady ph for 2 days. This is the most common sense, natural ph down you can possibly work with. I'm so happy to never have to buy or use ph down again or feed all that acid to my plants. It also makes your nutrient mix smell like lemonade when you first pour in the lemon juice. Not sure what affect, if any, it will have on the final taste or yield but I know I feel better using lemon juice then acid. It is also another part of my nutrient mix that is natural and organic. So many growers out there use ph down with organic nutrients and still call their plants organic when they are not 100%. This is a step that can make your nute program 100% naturally organic

Why do you have to PH-adjust, if your soil is organic/living? 7.8 ph water is fine. You should add a pulverized, semi-slow release lime/cal-mg additive to your soil mix, as well as a subculture or compost product to your soil when you mix it. That is all you need, outside of a balanced nutrient solution that includes a regular dose of cal-mg for auto's.

Your soil will take care of it for you. I do not understand people who preach or worry about ph-adjusting water for organic soil growing. It's purely a choice, not a requirement. The notion that it was necessary ruined/stunted my first handful of grows for no reason. I decided to listen to the vendors, I no longer PH, my plants no longer have any def's or lock out/ph issues.

Thanks for the replies guys but i just found out my cullagun water filter comes out at 6.2 not need for ph when it comes to watering. (I think the people that lived here grew here before me, they have a water filter that pumps water exactly at 6.2 and the few of the rooms have mylar adhevsive in the closets, hmmmmmmmmmm lol :stylez rasta smoke: o well im good to go thanks for the info Didnt know that Tokin about the soil really good tip alot of newbies prolly dont know that one :gthumb:

The water at my house has a ph over 8.3, anyone with a water ph that high feeding it to their plants is not going to get the best yield. I'm glad that technique works for you in your location but adding ph down where I am is a must. My yields of over 4lbs for 2400watts speaks for its self. I'm a top shelf medical producer for my medical club and know plenty other growers in California that do the same thing and they also adjust their ph accordingly.
I'm not arguing over adjusting ph or not, but if anyone is going to need ph down why not use a natural/organic product like lemon juice instead of a ph down (acid) bottle that has all kinds of warnings on the side of it? That's all I was adding to this thread.
