This is an important message from an old guy who thinks he knows something about music appreciation....

SO Here it is:

If you were unaware,

The Beatles White Album has been re-mixed to 5.1 Stereo by George Martin's son, Giles.

I knew about it but I just figured it was an overly-expensive, cleaned-up, money grab.
I was wrong.

This is music for the 21st century.
This is not some parlor trickery, but is stellar sound engineering which only serves to pay the original tracks a compliment.
This is how music should BE.

The sound is crystal clear and the channel arrangement is far beyond the primitive mixing abilities available 50 years ago.
This is The Beatles- now re-designed to be experienced by folks who enjoy recreational music.

My only criticism is;
Ringo's drums needed to be pushed further up in some tracks.
But I'm a drummer so it figures.

PLEASE,
Listen to these before they are pulled down.

I can appreciate that sentiment.

And yet the Beatles were "hard" even if only tapping their foot to a rhythm guitar.
Their compositions, concepts, and musicianship were bold, mature, and innovative.
AND they could rock too.

They lived extraordinary lives, were each incredible personalities with enormous talent, and they blazed a trail for modern music.

For instance;
this little ditty which was intended to be the heaviest possible sonic bombast during the same time as Herman's Hermits.

Nothing like this had ever been done.
Some say it's the birth of Metal.

(Again, this is the 5.1 mix: please do not listen to this unless you are in your favorite evening chair.)

Awesome! I didn't know. I thought it was just another remix too. That's great, I'll give them a listen.

I didn't mean that the Beatles couldn't rock but only to separate them from the Brontosaurus Rock of Led Zeppelin...that's all.

They were amazing songwriters. Their musicianship was so creative, it wasn't meant to be flashy or any of that...no wanking to look good. They were all about serving the song.

I remember listening to Rubber Soul over and over thousands of times and being mesmerized by the breathy intake right before the chorus in "Girl". The way Paul pronounces "handkerchief" in "She's leaving home"....it floors me every time.

There are so many moments in each record that are magical...I can't remember them all.

Wonderful looking plants. Congrats! On a side note, Yay the Beatles, but often left out of their praises is the master himself George Martin. A producer, conductor, composer, audio engineer, and musician of the highest order. The magic that is the Beatles, four extraordinary guys coming together was made complete by 5 extraordinary guys coming together when George Martin joined the band imho.

I agree completely.
Without George Martin they may have never sounded as good or transcended into their rich, orchestrated compositions.
No disrespect to Billy Preston but George Martin WAS the 5th Beatle.

Looking really good!

PS: agree on GM...he was integral to their sound and he knew how to get them to come through.
