New Grower Waira's 11-strain-in-the-membrane outdoor grow

Awww, they look so happy, Waira!

11 strains will keep the dreaded "strain drain" away for sure!! :D My babies are hitting the "stretch" now, took photos yesterday, had to take more this morning because of the difference! Autos are sure fun to watch!!

Stickman :smokeit: Thanks for swinging by! So, you've started your seeds already? Well, lay out there brother! Whatcha got? (LOL!) I had a helluva time making final decisions on choices! And there are many fine one these days,... I wonder about what the lowest night temp' you should expose the plants to,...certainly too cold will stunt them; even if the plants can take it, the soil is a heat sink, and will take hours to get back up to proper operational temps... For me, I'm playing it careful, and not exposing them to less than 50 degrees at night. With their very short growth window, outdoor autos' need every minute of prime-time they can get! So, keep this in mind when transitioning them. Later on though, toward the end of flowering, your cool nights will bring out the colors in those strains that have the potential for it! Are you going to start a grow journal here? Anyway, post that strain list! You'll likely find grows of many of them here, and get good feedback... :smoke:

***:cuss: :firedevil:*** Achtung!! Flying vermin season is nigh upon us!! Several plants had winged baby-shittin' aphids on them already, so outdoor growers, keep a fish-eye out for them......******* Death was meted out by alcohol+wetting agent soln. in a mini-sprayer,... Hahaaa...:finger: bugs....

Omnipresant?LOL!ya well I dont work (cant really) so I sit here with my cats and me plants all day long day in and day out with nadda things else better to do to tell ya the truth.LOL!A dead concert.LOL! ya should said a Zep concert er something.LMAO!Bring it on Home baby!

OH NO - not the bugs already! :cuss:

Have you thought about using a barrier like mosquito netting? I've been looking into that after losing a portion of my crop to budworms the last 2 years... In fact I was just googling it yesterday - I was leaning toward mosquito netting because I found one made to hang over a twin bed, and I thought it would be really easy to just put up posts around the garden and drape it over. In my travels I discovered there are actually a variety of plant nets to keep pests away!

I'm not that familiar with aphids other than I think they are green... I don't know how large they are, but butterfly netting (which is what I'm currently leaning toward) has fairly large holes to let in the sun, although I understand mosquito netting still lets in enough light as well - you could get a sunburn sitting under one in the sun!

Easy access from pests is one disadvantage to growing outside, but after two years of very frustrating partial losses I am determined to be smarter than the danged butterflies and moths! :firedevil: Anyway my friend, I am on alert for your grow and wish you luck in killing off or blocking those awful aphids!!

...Yes, the little winged d-bags are coming out in force, but that's expected at this time of year, most of the year,... my battle with them is now familiar and mundane- I know the deal!... Catch them early by scoping the plants out regularly, about 3x/week, and they don't make much headway infestation-wise, plus they're easy to kill with that soln. I use; people panic when they hear 'alcohol', and so did I when I saw it being used at the orchid nursery, but as long as it's not 90%+ and smothering the plant with it, it's fine.... Netting isn't an option for me; the plants are moved to chase the sun, etc.,... It would be nice though, because the aphids ubiquitous, so are white flies to a somewhat lesser degree, also, they're literally designed to find host plants! It's frickin' uncanny... Besides, to be effective against such small vermin, the mesh size would have to be about window screen spec's (or 'squiter netting size).... I did get caterpillars last year, but just the leaf munchers, and even then they didn't seem to like it; Budworms! :finger: :pimpmyride: I've been spared that plague,... sorry to hear you weren't! Hateful little shits....I have had them, rarely, move in on a couple of my outdoor orchids, and FUBAR some prize flowers though... Bottom line my hommette (fem. for homie :smoke:), we are smarter, but they got numbers and variety! If you can make a little netted zone though, it'll go a long way to prevention (lucky you!) :wiz:

StickMans Reply-Finally :)

Hey waira, Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I have been waaay too busy the last few days. Some good some bad. Well it's all good.

Oh, and I lied to you I only decided to grow 10 and not 11 different strains.:D
post that strain list! You'll likely find grows of many of them here, and get good feedback
. All of the strains I am growing are from breeders on this site. They, as well as testers and growers here at AFN have already helped me out so much with my new endeavor.

I was so overwhelmed with not only the myriad of different strains, but with all of the different growing techniques. I had been away from the MJ scene for 30 years, until I actually needed it for Chronic Pain and became a MMJ patient in my state. It still trips me out, that between my wife (shes is also a MMJ patient) and myself we can LEGALLY grow 30 plants at on time.:D

Anyway, here is the link to my grow thread that I finally started with strains and such.

Right on, Stickman! :pimp: Hazah! on starting your new grow! Oh yeah, shhhhhhh....I only have 10 going myself tight now too....:smokebuds: (LOL!) Until I get a final count on sexing, I'm holding off on the Crème Mandarines, maybe a couple others too, depending...... as you read, my germ' rates were pretty good, with only 1 non-germ, 2 runts (one slated for compost, the other kept as pure novelty), and so far no 'other' losses... This strain is fantastic though, so I'm dyin' to get it going ASAP! Besides, I'll much better light for them in late May, and so bigger plants. We'll see!... I'm gonna go scope your strain list now,... :toke:
