Outdoor Waira's '18 Mixed Bag of Tricks Combo Grow

 @Mossy ... thanks my friend, great to see you visit! :pighug:..... you know I love ya, but the garga-hound is MINE! :nono: :eyebrows:.... he was a steal from the retail nursery I used to work at,.. I got to work with several of the vendors, and these folks played ball on a deal for him,.. otherwise, such statuary is for the rich only!
.... I'm with you on the OD, and a little surprised at her fat fingers in what's a Sativa dom' Diesel heritage plant,... We'll see in several weeks!
.... Aunty, what do you make of that MoB/OGK x C99a turning out to be an auto at F1? It's HighRise's C99a, so we know that's a solid auto, and Stick is a fine breeder,... I thought it as impossible to get an auto in an F1 crossing,...... it seems her sister which was adopted out is going down the same road too! It makes no sense, unless somehow, somewhere along the background F-lines there was an auto (or semi-auto?) in the woodpile- :hump:...begs the question, and Stick is stumped too,....

>> hey @Rollin_along :pass:...

Aggghhh........Old argument from me...and every time I mention it people kick off...and I'm not a bloody botanist....BUT...

I get autos @f1......dunno why...I an't explain it...and so few people actually breed auto/photos any more it rarely ever gets mentioned now..but..I have had them.

Unfortunately I never found the Answer....personal/pet opinion is there is a small fast afghan or indy dominant girl in the original mix that Looks and behaves auto...an Inbetweener...

And...it would have to be in the Original lines...coz I have Always had them...:headbang:

I am here to keep a eye on ya .

Hey @Waira
Sorry i never got back to you via PM on the MoB/OG x C99a autoing issue! Chronic disease I have had most of me life, is back with a vengeance, thus quite ill. Show must go on though.

I continue to find many of the photo x auto F1s are autoing on us, not just my gear. I hit my Z6 x Harle-Tsu F3 with CBD Haze auto fem pollen. I started three to go out in the hoop house this year, 2/3 autoed on me straight away. I also started several Blue Hemp DarthVader= (Hindu Kush x Afgahni) x Hindu Kush(p) x WOS Afgan Kush Ryder F1s that a friend from Germany sent me. Again 2/3 autoed on me. Photo pheno is early and looking great though.

The MoB/OGK mom that i used finished for me great here, thus a fairly fast finisher. Also obviously very Afghan dominant Definitely no LR genes. Here is a picture of her. Shit, I am on a new PC with Windows 10. Tried everything to get the pictures to load vertically, nota. May have to try me old PC for loading pics. Sorry about you having to turn your PC sideways to view pics.

I just went out and snapped these pics of my lonely MoB/OG x C99a. She has been per-flowering quite heavy. Not sure yet if she is going to keep flowering or re-veg on me.Well Ok, looks like old pictures in the folder on my PC show up sideways, but new ones not, maybe...

Wishing you all the best for this season my friend!

Peace,

:eyebrows:... mud wrestle in your bean field? :haha: no way, I'm convinced you have webbing 'tween yer toes at this point mate! Besides, all you need to do is chisel a real deal one off a Cathedral roof someplace,....:rolleyes2:

:greencheck: Well, that seals it- Clearly there's more going on with this than what simple Mendel squares dominant/recessive heritability patterns indicate,.... I wonder if @FullDuplex has experienced this as well,... I'll ask @Magic and @Ronin .... @GoAuto6 ...maybe tug on some other sleeves at Sweet, Biotab's Mr. K, Female's Gennaro,.... Sweet especially, since they are the F1FV kings .... Did you notice any link to sex as to which auto'ed or not? ...made me think of some early Stone gear (F2?) that show strong consistency with males auto'ing, females not so,...

:pighug: @hecno -- G'Day me ol' mate! Very good to see you here,... just don't look too closely at some of these girls that were smacked with an ugly-stick!

>>> Stickbrudda :passit: ... that bites rod my friend,.. :bighug:... sending you more feel better MoJo! :karmacloud:............. Interesting crosses! .... :hump: yeah, that's the hot Mama you showed me in PM! .... how old is your MoGK99? Mine is about 6 weeks, and bloom never flinched, only the stalled out lateral development,... I find that MoB hits the brakes hard as soon as fuzzy crowns start to show, maybe some of that showing here... She's built like a fence post though!

>>>>:frog: ...here's all but one of the girls now at their grow-out site! I'm using Roots 707 soil for final pots,.. Kings Mix seems maybe too light/fast drying? 11 Roses in a 10gal, the rest in7's,... Sex Bud is looking sluggish, probably hating that Vermisoil more than the others,... she may just go 5gal, but need to restock on soil first, or try the Kings Mix with extra EWC,....
...top pic, little one is OD Grapefruit, biggest is 11 Roses, C+2.0 and MoB,...

Found you mate...

This thread is chocked full of goodies and have have questions. I got your PM about the soil and now i see that it has chewed right through them, interesting to see that they progress to with everything that you have tried on them. I wonder if it has to do with the severe gnat issue that you had with them. Its the main reason that i stopped using black gold and switched to promix HP, and the fact that i can get it locally.

I remember back when i was growing the some bubaba kush and i had a gnat problem, i was getting compounded problems that nothing would fix, it looked like i had both P lockout as well as a few other problems and even a look at toxicity. The only think that was different on them was the soil that was loaded with gnats. Dunks, and traps were used but i think that the damage was done to the root system on the plants. They still yielded well but i think there was something with the gnats that cause a freak out in the plant. Its the only thing that i could put my finger on. I remember sharing pics with you on them and you were perplexed at the compound issues that we were seeing.

So the autos at f1, personally have never seen it but i think that is because of limited numbers that i had to run over the years. I do however believe that it can happen and i have a theory on that. Ill find out more in the next few months as i will be taking 2 photos to auto for the farm and we can all watch together. Baydream and AC/DC (CBD strain), i am picking up the cuts from the farm next week once the rest of my gear arrives here at the house. Got me Med card so i have a little better plant count to mess with now.

In theory the Punnett/Mendel square does not lie, it can't its simple math. Ever hear about the girl who was assigned a task to learn the square by taking her blood types and those of her parents to see where hers came from and she found out her daddy wasnt her daddy? Thats because if its in there it will come out but if its not then there is something missing. Just like a simple puzzle.

@Mossy has had years of this and has talked about it in the past, and i have seen a few more talk about it. I absolutely believe that it can happen and i hinge that on the chat that we have had @Waira on day neutral vs Ruderalis. What we do know for a fact is that ruderalis has the day neutral gene in dominant form. With ruderalis comes a few other un desired traits. The ability to not take stress at all, anything happens to them they are stunted and there are all other types of issues that come from pure rudi genes.

There is still large debate on if the three classes are really three separate classes of cannabis or if they all came from Cannabis C : Sativa. What am i saying with all of this...? well i believe that the Day neutral is in all canna, something that is there for adaptation to climate, and other environmental factors. Indicas mostly have hollow stems and are found in dryer climates, these hollow stems to act like straws to have better uptake in climates where water may be less available. They also have deeper ridges on the stems that act like natural water ducts, and their leaves are fatter to provide more surface area to catch water and send it below the plant.

Sativa plants have a smaller footprint to the leaf, rarely have i found the hollow stems, and they have rather smooth stems going into the ground. They are found in areas that are more tropical and have more rain availability, needing less of the natural water ways that the indica provides to survive in the difference in climate.

All of this babble comes down to this, i think that the neutral gene could be found in most cannabis and why we see it in F1 when introducing it to certain photos. If the photo carries the gene somewhere in its genotype and is introduced to a plant that is Dominant in that trait there is indeed a potential meld, its just a matter of numbers at that point. I think that is why we see it but not in high numbers of the progeny of the resultant cross. Punnett says that if its in there is has to come out, and that it has to be in both of the parents to see it at F1 and you cant really argue with that method on the theory of the square. If the photo used did not have that day neutral gene the F1 would never see it just like the girl that was told her dad was her dad until she did the blood types. There was no way that her blood type could be the way it was if neither parent didnt carry that potential marker.

@Waira I've seen autos in F1 it happens often. Why IDK I can't pretend to know the answer.

I've also seen a 3 way full auto cross be photosensitive.
When it comes to cannabis I honestly believe we been Hoodwinked on using punnets when "breeding". I cant name one strain on the market that got to what it what the they wanted because breeder followed "punnet" method. I see everyone is chasing traits and traits can not be configured on a punnets square
Screenshot_20180708-175305.jpg
punnets work for single gene like blood type and other more simple things I hear people say I'm chasing a smell or flavor or structure, then you not looking for one gene. It is multiple genes make up the flavors and aromas we get from plants so to say I'm going to cross the mango pheno to another mango pheno and 100% of the offspring will smell and taste like mango we all know that's never the case even if your using clones. There 100 genese that make up skin color 400 genes that make up how tall you will be. Humans have 20-25,000 genes plants range from 25-40,000 genes even rice has 40k! Cannabis has to be as comolex if not more so to say what gene does what even scientist haven't figured that out yet their still trying figure out all the cannabinoids and their functions no one has really touched on actual gentic code of a plant and how it plays a role in the 1000s of strains out there auto and photo.

But i have to say it u know i do lol
The is no auto gene I been saying this for a while now, just because it went auto brother doesn't mean it's inferior in any way pending parents. We all know there are some old autos u dont want any dominance with today's auto hybrids.

You cross an Auto White Widow x Photo Black Jack you will only got two parents you offspring will either be WW Dom BJ Dom or a mix of both there won't be a 4th "auto pheno" we are creating an imaginary phenotype by saying auto gene. Even a punnet square falls short when you do an auto photo cross on it. Where does the "auto" come in? All plants have a "Flowering" gene that is scientifically proven it's also been proven some plants have the ability to switch that gene off but those plants are not considered a "new" plant it's the same as it always been same with thing with cannabis. If you correctly breed a photo to auto genetically they would not differ. You will have to versions of the same plant, cannabis twins if wanna call it something.

I feel like autoflower is nothing more than a means for survival and plants will always change and order to survive

After further investigation seems apetala1 gene is the sole gene that tells a plant when to flower. Not only are their multiple genes that make up certain traits like I explained earlier but there are also single genes that can produce different traits. It's seems as though apetala1 in cannabis can function in a number of ways. But apetala1 gene only effects flowering nothing else it's actually a reproductive response so the way the plant turns out is based on other genes and environment.
