Grow Mediums Water base ppm?

Hey guys. I have asked this in tapatalk chat, live stoners and now im here lol.

I was looking at RO systems, then i started looking for purified water locally and found 25L for $30 with EC 5 uS/cm, is this a decent deal? 5 microsiemens is about 3ppm if im not mistaking.

I don't know if that's a good deal or not but for the cost of about 300 liters of that water you can get a good Hydro-Logic 100 gpd system. Plus you won't have to cart that water home from the store.

I agree with Muddy, 25L at a time is going to get to be both costly and a pain. I use 100L per change so figure changing every 3-4 weeks at least and very likely a good bit more you could easily end up going through 600L just in water changes and then maybe another 300L in top off's. My RO system including booster pump was under $200 so in just one grow that's about $0.22 per L or $5.50 per 25L and I get around 20 ppm. The price goes down with the only carry over being filters as you do more grows.

If you've got an RO system, use that water in your car batteries if you don't have distilled water. The low ppm of RO is just about as good as distilled and certainly better than any well or municipal source with high ppm. Those minerals will adhere to the plates in the batteries, build up and shorten their life.
