Dog Head Fire in New Mexico.
Imaginary Evil Twin Sister says:
I normally give my plants 1 week between top and bottom harvest. Three days after topping (underwater in a cooler) the fire started. We drove down south too take a look at it and it was quite beautiful. Just shy of 2 days later it jumped 10 miles in 6-8 hours and was >5 miles form out house. We bugged out.
So now my entire harvest is at the bottom of a large cooler living in the back of an SUV. Even with a med license I'm not about to have the cooler open for the world to see. We head to the refuge camp (Hyatt Regency) and stick the SUV down in the basement curtesy off valet parking.
Water Cure: 1 week underwater uncovered flushing 1-2 times a day. But I can't do that.
Turn off for the house is 2 miles N of where the National Guard have their road block. By the time you get IN to the house you are actually 1 mile S of the road block. The house is a 5 mile twisty drive with only 1 way in/out. The wind is pushing it straight of us, and I have a family member with compromised breathing in a wheelchair.
So I can and do go back to the house every day to check it. On the 19th the fire has gotten to 2.5 miles from the house. The wind picks up a bit, we can hear it, and the sky turns black. On the 20th the fire has stabilized with regard to where we are due to a huge application of man power and heavy earth moving equipment. Now we can hear bull dozers.
Fast forward to today and we have just moved back in. Now the sky is black form non smoke clouds and I can hear thunder. Defiantly an improvement.
Water cure experiment:
40qt cooler
60qt cooler
2 cooking pots
XL mesh bag
Submersible pond thermostat.
Flowers
Due to "Oh fuck, a fire!" The flowers were trimmed rather roughly, lol. Fan leaves gone but that was about all. Flowers cover bottom of smaller (inner) cooler to a depth of 6"s. Thermostat sensor rests on flower filled mesh bag in-between pans with readout in the space between coolers.
I was able to maintain a temp of 65 at fill and never higher than 72 by the time I got back up the house and flushed it. I did NOT leave the coolers open to the air. Every day I flushed repeatedly over the space of 1-2 hours and lightly agitated the mesh bag by hand.
I will update when I dry and cook.
