hey yall keep it quick so I can get to the garden store before they close.
Basically I'm pretty positive I got bad Original potting soil from the Hydro store, Fighting lockout I know.
Need to know what lime (organic) to add and how much?
Water in for testing ph to 7.7 (distilled water), run off 5.2! Was lower when I check run off a few weeks ago ie 6.2 in 4.8-9. And baking soda I am using isnt pushing ph above low 8s trying to catch the 6.1-6.5 zone.
Eco PH2 pen W/ cal solution so it isnt my meter
Soil Roots organic original potting soil
Add Organism Xl (wouldnt change ph)
(TRINITY, ) thats it
(None of these changed ph in feeding water more the.2-.3)
Have not amended it or done anything thing so Chuck it off as bad mix :dunno:
What can I do to bring it up ? Lime? or Buy ph ^ and chase it?
Flushing all 3 isnt really the ideal option since I dont really have access to 45gals of clean water on tap or even know where to store such a amount.

Dipshits,... it's a decent soil otherwise,.... after the fact pH corrections are difficult; lime takes weeks to to react and correct,... (LOL! organic? the labeling they put on stuff these days,... this is literally nonsense, considering what lime is,...); a pH up product can certainly help- (usually for hydro', but can be used in a pinch for soil emergencies,.. I wouldn't use it regularly because of potential salt build-up issues), but I honestly don't know how long it will last in soil; I think there are liquid lime products out there, but I don't have a name or experience with them (call/ask around at your local Horti-shop),... another good alternative is hydrated lime, which I used to fix acidic soils (in this case before planting) with right now results.... It's an altered form of regular lime, and is a powder that readily suspends (not dissolves mind you) in water... the fineness of the particles allows it to penetrate deeper and faster as well... it's readily available, but it's powerful stuff,... I used about 2 cups in 2cf of soil to bring pH up around 1.5 points,... When using for deficiency treatments, 1tsp/gal water is recommended... Immediate action is what you're looking for, I gather, so the stuff I mentioned will fit the bill for this,... *** Personally, I dislike the run-off method,... I find too many possible sources of error in the readings,...Best thing I can recommend is the Accurate 8 soil pH meter, a probe type that, unlike the cheap cheezy things at the garden stores, works nicely and with acceptable accuracy,....best of all, it measures the soil directly! I got mine a few months back, and I give it a smootch after every time I use it- :roflcry: ....keep grinding Pope!
