Mephisto Genetics Weird issue with meph seeds.

So i recently purchased GhostToof x4 and they threw in 2 Chemdog freebies. With photos in the past i have had well over 90% germ rate.

I use the standard paper towel, store-bought distilled gallon of water, until taproot is 1/4inch, then place in peat pellets for a few days.

Now out of the 6 seeds, 5 germinated. Normal. Once they broke ground and started the new set of leaves (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch tall) they just stopped. No growth. The last four are in soil now but haven't seen growth in 2 days.. (4 days old)

I don't know whats going on.. if i did something wrong or the seeds were not optimal. I don't want to be that guy that requests Meph to help if it was my fault.

I might've said this before, but I fear Mephisto hasn't been able to keep up with both demand and seed quality.
I recently had 2 Gold Glue seeds fail, an old AutoBlues fail to germ, a mutant ToofDecay that yielded 1/2 oz of mediocre stuff, and a FantasmoExpress that hermied.
A double grape is doing great.
Two other breeder strains in the same environment thrived, as have most of my past mephistos.

I dont think anyone has reported germ issues with that strain so there isn't a history of it being sketchy. I checked out your journal. Could be operator error like the light on the root issue you mentioned. It sucks to lose seeds but if it was me I'd toss them and start new ones instead of trying to make it work and wasting days doing it. If autos start off wrong I always toss them. The cost of the seeds is quite reasonable when the equation takes in to account freebies and esp if you get them on sale at 20% off or greater. Good luck.

Luxx, get me some specifics mate,.. the T they were germ'ing in, and T and RH% they are in now,... what medium they are in, light type and distance,.... Did you check that mediums pH beforehand? Stall out's can be tricky,... it can be a bit of cool doing it, or sometimes they just get more busy below than above and seem to putt-putt along,...
Let's see if there's anything in the above possibilities first, and give them a couple more days, too soon to write them off just yet either way! I've had more than a few with slow starts that shot right back later,...

I had a 24 Carat that seemed to stall, the key word being seemed. After about 2 weeks, when the seeds that had been planted at the same time were starting to really take off, and the 24 Carat had basically not changed ( abou 1" tall seedling after 2 weeks) since emerging from the Root Riot cube, I decided to start another and not waste time. But I couldn't trash her, so I left her in her RR cube in the corner of the cabinet. A couple days later I up-potted her to a 24 ounces pot of soil, and within a week she had gotten her groove on and really started to get vertical. Long story short, she is about 12 days behind her mates that were germed on the same day, but she is now bigger then either of them and starting to flower aggressively. I think she will be a great specimen of the 24 Carat variety. Sometime you just need to show a little patience is the moral of my story.

Thanks for the interest. The temps the first batch were around 80-85 (sitting on the back of my little electric fireplace) The second was around 72ish in a drawer. RH was 40-50, medium is OF w/ perlite. 240 actual watt full spec led at 20 inches. My the glass broke on my ph meter.. had to order one today. I made little humidity domes over them, watering with only a cap full of distilled each.

Gaaahhh! ...FuxFarms OF strikes again- .... I think this might be the problem: OF is rich, too rich for some strain's seedlings... Worse, I can objectively say OF is the [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] problem soil that people have when they come to the Infirmary, and it's almost always low pH..... I stopped using their soil years ago after it fragg'ed a grow and I had the soil tested for pH, in the bag BTW, not the pot... pH in the low 5's! ... I tested several others then, and over a couple years at a friends garden supply store, same deal,..... Some folks get OK bags, which I chalk up to good luck of the draw and probably different sourcing at the various places it's made.... ... It would explain the reaction best, given the OK germ' rate...
Well, nothing to be done now, any messing with the young roots will result in stunting,... pending a solid reading of pH, about the only thing you could do is a flush... This can help raise the pH and strip out some of the "hotness"....
Hey, do you have some of the soil still left? Since it's unlikely you have a soil pH probe, you could do a simple slurry test- ... Is your pH meter calibrated up? If not, see to that first,...
Then, take a cup of soil, 1.5cups RO/DI water (so as to not skew pH results with buffering minerals), mix together and let sit for half hour, with an occasional stir... Drain off some liquid sufficient for testing and see what it says,... with some luck, you may have an OK batch! Let me know what you get...

I like the new true soil by Royal Gold, King's Mix,... they are mainly a coco company, but this soil is really nice... it's light and dries pretty fast (read: breaths well), held pH nicely all through, very solid choice- ... Roots Organic original is still a good soil, and if you can find it, Sanctuary Soil brand Victory Blend, or Empire Builder (hotter).... heard some good feedback on Dr.Earth soils,...

What ph would you be feeding a mix like royal gold Kings mix?
