Mephisto Genetics Weird issue with meph seeds.

>>>> true soil likes it around 6.5; inputs ideally should be around this as well.... There are a lot of pH influencing factors happening in a pot, so dialing in your feeds and, if applicable, your water's pH helps take the burden off the soil's buffering capacity alone,... proper supplements in the soil, like lime help, so can the soil herd if it's healthy and robust enough....
Some broad strokes here: really hard water can become a problem sooner or later because of the large amount of cumulative minerals (CaCO3 mainly) building up in there, which will drive pH up.. This mineral is what gives water some buffering capacity--- well, the carbonate (bicarbonate) part actually, free Ca++ isn't directly involved.... Also, too much Ca will start to screw with the uptake of certain other nutes.... More extreme, if you're trying to get the pH down after that build-up, CaCO3 can stay in it's compounded form, not free ions,....this is what sucks the acidity adjustment up by reacting to the H+ and dissolving, freeing up that carbonate to combine with a free H+ and form bicarbonate... If you're fighting a high pH caused defc. for example, it'll be a bitch to fix because CaCO3 is not especially soluble in water, flushing may not do the trick like it does under overly acidic conditions,...
At the opposite end, using straight RO/Di/very low ppm water, stripped of this mineral, offers no help at all so pH can potentially slip down more readily... Much depends on the specific amendments added in to deal with this though! ..... Your Ca-Mg inputs (if they have carbonate in them) can help boost this too...
My gospel: by monitoring your actual in-pot pH with a quality pH probe, and watching your inputs pH (and ppm's), you can help prevent any pH snafu's and spot them faster, treat and fix sooner and better... I have hard water to deal with in my grows inside and out... tap can be 170-200+ppm, so I lix in some RO water to get the ppm's down to low 100's, enough to offer buffering but not cause excessive build-up over time,... watering enough to get some run-off helps keep the ion/ppm load in there lower too, but it's not always necessary and constantly soaking wet pots are not wise either!

...ah, I missed the broken pH meter part- ..well when you get the new one, test it anyway just to see,... and learn!

I like the new true soil by Royal Gold, King's Mix,... they are mainly a coco company, but this soil is really nice... it's light and dries pretty fast (read: breaths well), held pH nicely all through, very solid choice-... Roots Organic original is still a good soil, and if you can find it, Sanctuary Soil brand Victory Blend, or Empire Builder (hotter).... heard some good feedback on Dr.Earth soils,...
I love their Tupar. Won't grow with anything else. They make good stuff.

 Tupur is good stuff indeed,... used it to start seedlings when I was having trouble with some other true soils until I found something that didn't suck! Bad batches happen, quality slips,.. last year it was Vermicrop soil that was FUBAR, every auto in it suffered, and nothing I did helped,... something in it screwed the CEC or similar issue; pH was fine, run-off ppms OK... That's when I tried the King's Mix, and was very happy at the performance! it's quite light, i wouldn't use it outside, dries too fast but in tent life, it's great for nutrient cycling because of this... I grow in smaller pot generally, too much of a variety slut to have the 4x2 space dedicated to just a couple-few strains!

I have emailed them about their products, but they don't respond. I am curious as to how Tupar was. I can get it by me, but don't like switching stuff without knowing how clean it is . Canna used to be good. 10+ year ago . Then it went downhill. I use Char Coir. very Clean. But the place I get it from is not storing it well. So I am tempted to try this brand. Thanks for any help you can give. Slow

I have a grape crinkle that popped ground almost 2 weeks ago and hasn't had any growth in a week. I've had this happen with a few strains, both old and newer releases. I haven't complained or made mention of any of it, I just chalk it up as being part of the game we play. But I've definitely had both germ and growth issues with different strains. I'm still not complaining, or waving a red flag, I'm just raising my hand and saying yes, I've seen/experienced similar issues in the past, and even have the issue in a current seedling.

They are still alive, but very slowly growing. Going to let it do its thing. I will give mephisto another shot today. Except this time i will pop enough to have my pick of genetics for the final 4. Like buy 8, hope for 6, keep 4 type thing. Hope that will increase my odds.

I guess i wont try again. They wont accept my payment now. Whats an good alternative to it that is US friendly.

That sucks! I would reach out to someone from @mephisto first! It may be a simple fix! I think @stan_mephisto is on site and has dealt with a couple credit card/site issues! Try that 1st!

Some of my recent purchases from Mephisto have had seeds that looked immature to me. They were not fully formed and hard and were very lightly colored. Some of my GhostToof’s are very small and look pretty immature.QC has definitely gone downhill with Mephisto. People even have hermies now and germ rates seem to be dropping as time goes on. I hope they get a handle on it because the price is going up and the quality is going down. I love me some Mephisto but they aren’t the only game in town. They are the whole reason I now grow 90% autos and probably 75% Mephisto autos.

Ive had the same issue w some Mephisto beans....probably older stock. Scrapped about 7 once and 5 another time. They just stalled....Ive also had issues where once they get going the center stem never starts, so its just side leaves. I have 2 from Delicious right now (critical neville haze) with no center shoot. I think the Meph stilton special was 4 out of 5 that grew w no center stalk. I start my seeds right in the rockwool cubes and then to 3.5 gal hempys. The majority of my luck has been good w Meph though.
