Weird leaf..

Yea man, I already threw away the solutions I prepared, everything seems to be ok now, in the mean time I already had other small issue, as I was dealing with this I forgot to check the concentration of the soup, and I got them hungry a bit, but that is also fixed now, hehe.

it is back :(

Bad news guys, it is back :( My plants grew a lot since then and it seems to like eating from the shaded leafs below, that's why I probably didn't notice new damage,.. I just had an encounter with it, when i opened the tent earlier, I managed even to catch it with my finger against the tank, and pushed hard so I was sure I killed it, but guess what the bastard is so tough as soon as I released the finger flew away and hide somewhere.. I shaked the pots trying to make it come out again,.. nothing. Whf are fungus gnats so tough? Or is it something else. It is about 2 cm in size with a bulky body, white yellowish colour.. I still think it is only one guy, probably I just thought I killed it last time because I slaped it with the palms but I didn't find the body after and knowing now how tough it is I probably didn't. The damage is also not too much just a few leafs here and there, and knowing how insects multiply I should have alot of them by now.. I still tink there is 1 maybe 2 individuals probably not enough to make babies?

In the mean time I ordered a pesticide, just to be safe, but now looking at the bottle I'm not so sure weather I should use it, or make a tobacco / soap thing. It says on the bottle to be used on flowers and decorative plants not edible (nothing abot smokable) however they claim it is natural, even it's name is "Nature's Answer". It also says it should be used away from fish ( this gets me worried about my dogs), also it says not to contaminate drains, and water container, and with my hydro system would be hard to spray it without it driping in the container below and on the drains... I got it from a grow shop howerver and searching for more info online i found that numerous grow and hydro shops sell it,..

View attachment 177814 this is how it looks. Anyone had any experience with it?

I'm thinking if it's only 1 bastard the best would be to just hunt it down and kill it, but how if it is so tough? Encounters with it seem to be rare, and even if I do catch it, I fear it won't kill it again... :cuss:

What would you guys do?

Its a disclaimer on the bottle so people don't spray a glass and swallow. They are not wanting you to get it in water and risk an animal doing same. Keeps lawsuits down. Though I ponder the people they need to warn not to do that in the first place with.

Not knowing the product google its main active ingredients. Most products claiming natural have neem, pyrethium , among other ingredients in it. Be sure with pets anything you spray, your pets aren't around. Certainly with animals you don't want them wandering a grow room anyways.

Ah I thougt it is talking about hydro water container and drains.. but now that you say it may be so (english is not my main language ). the exact words are " APPLY AWAY FROM FISH . Do not empty into drains . Do not contaminate water with the product or it's container. " (the fish part with caps) in another section it suggests it is based on sulphur. "certain species may be susceptible to damage from sprays containing sulphur"

The dogs have no access inside the tent of course but the house is small and I don't know i fear maybe if they breathe it or something.. For how long after i spray you reckon would be safe to keep them away?

what makes this product suspicious to me is also the fact that I can't seem to find a manufacturer website, nor any forum discussions or reviews, only lots of shops selling it..

gnats dont get that big do they? and gnats become a big infestation reasonably quickly so I think your dealing with something else.
when gett pesticides it is best to get ones designed for veggies as floral ones may not be good for human consumption (eating or smoking) however if you flush well should not be a big deal.
my suggestion is to try the stuff on one or two leaves and see if it has any visable negative effects, if not go for it but just dont over use it

Don't use that product, first google hit I open page and read, do not apply on edible plants.

http://www.lovethegarden.com/product-details/natures-answer-natural-fungus-bug-killer click link and head to view product label.

If I knew you would have had a problem finding info I would have looked much faster, sorry about that.

Search google for home made bug repellant recipe. Theres many out there, if you cant find an organic method in a bottle.

thnx guys yea I'll make a Diy recipe instead, maybe it's not gnats then, it flies irregularly like a moth or a fly .. good thing I became suspicious of that product, it's weird they sell it in hydro shops all over europe.. I did try the sticky tape but it didnt catch anything, I still have the tapes inside the tent since last time still nothing, also nothing in the potato slices wich they say gnats love.. I saw a moth trap in a shop here, I will try one of those also, but I doubt it is a moth so strong you can't crush it with a finger? maybe some kind of flea? Fleas are that tough...
