New Grower Welcome to the jungle (in progress)

Hey Sapphire,

I hope to find all's well with you? Your gardens looking awesome btw, I did stop by yesterday but it was way too late at night to be trying to write a decent post. My words would have fallen apart like runny cat skat.

Bad news this end. Some swine of a creature had themselves a feast one night and worked their way through the buffet I layed out for them. Still haven't worked out what ate them, all the leaves were gone leaving only the main stem and on the tops of each pot was a pile of animal poop left in its place. The poop wasn't pellet like so not a rodent, it was more like the wriggly sand thing you see on the beach sometimes, almost as if someones squeezed out the toothpaste tube. Doesn't ring any bells with me though I am no poop expert.

5 survived the horror of watching their siblings being devoured and 2 of these don't look in a good way at all so I'm not expecting them to pull through. The 3 larger ones, to keep them safe, have been transplanted into the ground in a mini greenhouse type thing I've built in the garden.
They have been in there for 24 hours now and seem okay, no shock and even a little bit of growth.

To replace the fallen I shall be germinating a new batch of tester seeds. Unsure which to choose atm but give me a few hours and I'll have decided.
The Afghani cross (The Blitz) I have in the 32oz comp is also part of these tester seeds, will be interesting to see what happens.

Here's a some pics of each of the three outdoors, I'll upload some pictures of the sick babies tomorrow when I'm back in the garden (Day off work, woohoo!!!)

Luckily, I think I have been left with variety. I've figured two of them out Sapphire but there's one I'm still not sure about, I'm thinking it may be one of the photo Caramels. I hope so anyways. The remaining ones of these seeds I shall be growing indoors at some point during the year.

Also, I'm preparing a supersoil for a run next month once its cooked, just gotta put it all together now :wiz:

Aww, sorry 'bout the critter dining on the "buffet," has happened to me also! Your storytelling makes me :roflcry:... Even though 5 were traumatized by the awful scene, the 3 "good" ones sure look happy...

I love your greenhouse - aren't you handy! :booya:I have a mosquito net "room" that I'm going to put up over the photos when they flower - I need a physical barrier from the :cuss: moths and/or butterflies that have laid eggs in my buds 2 years in a row now... I'm smarter than those little f**kers this year, I hope... Anyway, your greenhouse design is great & you saved a TON by making it yourself. Could be something I look into next year if it turns out the mosquito net blocks too much light. (you can get a sunburn thru it, so I'm hoping it'll work)

Supersoil? A new run starting next month?? Cool! I'll keep my eyes peeled for more details. :D

Thanks for the update, RF! :smokebuds:

Here's a few snaps of the outdoor troopers, and troopers they are. Temperatures have randomly dropped to 3*C during the night and then rocket to 25+ degrees during the day.
As you can see, the old but tender (grown indoors) leaves have suffered to the cold but the new growth on all the plants looks fine so they seem to be adjusting themselves well. I have had one fatality so far but it was tiny when it first went in the ground so it didn't really stand a chance.

And this is an Auto Super Silver Haze by GreenLabel which I'm growing for a friend without the means to grow for himself.

It's at roughly day 21 and showed sex 4/5 days ago.
It started stretching at about day 10 and has been just uncontrollable since. Not that I've tried LST'ing, I really wanted to grow a plant in its natural form which I haven't done yet but I have had to adjust its distance from the light sometimes twice a day. 11 cola sites so far and I've done jack-diddly but because of the stretch its becoming a real battle trying to put some strength into the stems with the fan. I see me having to stake it before too long.

The description says it's a small plant which grows to 40-50cm tall.

Anyways, take care folks.

Our weather has been less than agreeable here, too, RF... Seems like a cold season overall so far, but we haven't had a dramatic swing in temps like your babies had to ride out! I think they like their new digs! And in my *dreams* I'll have an autoflower that looks like that in 21 days! LOL

:smokebuds:

This Super Silver is just becoming a monster and the swine's starting to really affect my 32oz'ers so I've had to trim off a couple of fan leaves. The damn things have been spreading like strawberry runners, just uncontrollable.
This is my first sativa so just wondering do they normally stretch like this or is this baby just on a mad one of its own??

Not sure what day we're on, I'd guess at somewhere around day 24-26. I've got so many, all at different stages and I'm kinda just running the show by sight rather than dates atm.

I'll post the outdoor ones tomorrow.

Maaaybe....

Opium's a much nicer word though. It's a nice thing to look forward to at the last half of the year. Helps no end with my insomnia, just reminds me of a tasty hash high. When it comes to collecting the latex if anyone's interested I'll give you a demo.

Now if I could only make my own LSD I'd be sorted....
