Live Stoner Chat What are our Responsibilities ???

I completely disagree. Seems closed minded to me.

Not using a certain strain because of its name? Its not really "green crack" it was actually called "Cush" until Snoop Dogg dubbed it green crack. I think the names are fun and creative. Closed mined people will always be closed minded.

Also cannabis is not just a med. It is a recreational drug too. If you use cannabis for meds you should be doing research into the strains you choose so names should not be a factor.

Take the Dragon strains for example.. They are designed for their medicinal benefits but what does a dragon have to do with medicine? It is simply about brand recognition. If the strain is good the name is irrelevant..

Good marketing? maybe but only to the recreational market. The names themselves are ok, but for now, what do those names say to non-users who are on the fence about legalization? What does it say to those already opposed? At this juncture, its time to think about things like that if we want to see legalization nationwide. I've already seen propaganda from the anti cannabis people mentioning "Green Crack" in there diatribes about the evil weed....We need to think about these things if we want to keep moving forward.

Open my mind and tell me where it came from. I can tell you it is highly decorated, potent, combo of columbian, mexican + thai, afgani. I know I like it I know it puts me out, But I have no idea and 10 minutes of google tells me nothing as most info about it starts with "despite the name..."

BTW I agree about closed minded folks!

Stupid people will continue to be stupid no matter what.. if they dont bitch about the names they will find another reason.. Smell maybe? Who knows. Theyll find something.

why dont people complain about root beer? Kids drink that! Why dont they change the name of that? Its misleading and sounds more dangerous than it is.. Because its JUST A NAME.

It was his 47th cross with Afghani Kush.. (AK47)

It could just as easliy have been AK 69 if it took more crosses to make...

I read this too. I don't get how AK-47 could be offensive or worsen the scene in any way. However, I agree on the rest.

...With the exception of Appalachian Thunderfuck, that shit sounds hilarious!
:coffee2:

A much more uniform way to labeling strains would be nice. Surely the current ones may sound cool but if the herb is to be taken seriously as a medicine it needs to sound official. I think Leafly has got it right and this would benefit them hugely as well.

I think the names are hurting the legitimacy of the medical side of canna, while boosting the recreational side and attracting younger "lets get f**ed up crowd".

I hope a real medical movement evolves for people who actually need it for medicine. But even "medical" cups barely provide real info for patients. I think we need specialized doctors who can have that intimate doctor-patient relationship and can provide scientific and legit info on certain strains for whatever the needs.

A lot of rec users get the medical card just to be legal in their state, if weed was decriminalized across the land, then we could get a legit separation of medical and rec users. Only then can breeders and patients and doctors work together to cure disease and relieve symptoms.

But the fact is that cannabis is not JUST a med. It is also a recreational drug. If anyone disagrees they are naive. Why cant it be both?

Dont get me wrong. Im all about the medicinal aspect of cannabis but without the recreational users support it would never get legalized. Our fight is against stupidity, closed mindedness, and years of misinformation not against fun names for a fun plant.
Im a realist I like to be logical. Just take a moment and think about it for yourselves.

I would have to agree , the names don't bother me but I can see where some of the names give a wrong impression , more so here in Australia where we are way behind you guys , Just now starting to talk about medical cannabis , being close minded is not a issue with smokers it is the public that don't smoke that have a issue with the names and they would not know the reason behind names , we all know the names are only that . Good topic .

I feel you, I'm a rec user and fully support it's traditional usage as a medicine. Right now it's a clusterf**k of rec users pretending to have medical needs. I agree though we need the majority of people to be on our side if we're going to change the dumbass laws regarding our favorite plant.

Thanks to medical mariujana laws and the decades of protests from rec and med users, the floodgates are opening. But lets be honest the recreational users have hogged all the attention and dominated breeding standards and it's causing trouble for legit medical users.

Now it is what it is and only until it's decriminalized/"legalized" will the rec users abandon the medical cards and let the real med users work with eachother to fix their personal ailments.

Your right, our fight is against stupidy! And its some seriously stupid people who we have to fight against. I totally agree with you, BUT, the world doesn't work the way we/you would like it to. Why feed the fire? after its legal we can name a strain Bloody C**t for all I care! So lets not fight this war against prohibition by feeding the enemy!
