Maybe someone can help me,I have a 400w metal halide and a 400 w hps and one ballast .I also have two 48" t12 ballasts for extra light.what color spectrum do I want ? High or low kelvins?I was gonna start with the mh for the first few weeks and then switch to hps but I will run the t12s the whole time.

T12 are not strong enough for much more than starting seedlings and if really close supplemental lighting. The Low kelivin 2700k are red for bloom and the 6400k are white/blue for veg. Alot of people use both colors when they are using florescents.

Hi Whaleballs,

As Torched indicated, I would use a mix. More 6500K during veg and more 2700k during bloom

Thanks for the response .I guess the bulbs are cheap enough I can run the hi kelvin with the mh at the start and then when I switch to the high pressure sodium I can put on some low calvin fluorescent bulbs.I just want to get as much light on them as I can.I will be able to get them in close.I already have the the ballasts for those lights.I'll give it a shot.
