Okay I currently grow with CFLs only and want to add a LED but know next to nothing about them so im wondering what the best companies are to buy from online and have it work amazing as soon as I plug it in. im thinking about northern grow lights Aurora 110 for my small cabinet grow. Any advice?????

mars-hydro.com check them out, they also have a thread on here where a representative can answer any questions you have. theyre probably the best for your money, there lights also come witha 3 year warranty. i would say the old model 300w is similar to what you posted, drawing 180 actual watts, and only costing 105$

I too would recommend Mars Hydro , I have 2 and they work great , and are priced very well , now don't get me wrong I am no expert on lights or growing but am more than happy with them .

LungsOfGlory, I don't have any experience with Mars Hydro -LEDs so I cannot say if they are any good but I do have some with GN's MS0006 and their brand new model, HS1. Just check some of the growdiaries with HS1 people are doing here. TaNg is right now getting over 2 gpw with his grow up with two of those units.

Sure, they are expensive but believe me, after I settled for couple of 100e units and realized they barely grow nothing but nice lettuce I had to cave in and first get the MS0006 unit that worked wonderfully and now the new HS1. HS1 draws only 75w on average that produces amazing good results. Just remember that you cannot bluntly compare wattage of an unit to the yield they might produce, but it is still an usefull indicator how well the light is performing. It is like comparing wattage of an amplifier in estimating how many dBs a speaker will burst out. Just check any modern studio speakers, like Genelec, they take so little wattage but the sound is full and wide. Same thing with the latest LEDs.

Yeah, I admit, I have become sort of a GN -fanboy. I am so impressed with their quality.

Check out A51leds They direct you to their new site. Interesting concept with white and reds.
I have the smaller all white, and the plants love them, although I think the white and red may even be better.
They use high quality Cree LED's. Maybe the smaller one would work for you.

The housing case and heat sinks are made in China. The LEDs were made, purchased (from Digikey or Mouser) and soldered in the USA. Drivers and fans come from China. All assembly is done is the USA.

The Cool white used in the RW series: XTEAWT-00-0000-000000H50 R5, Warm White used in the XGS: XTEAWT-02-0000-00000BFF6, Red LED used in the RW and SGS Series: XPeReD-L1-0000-00801 P3. We purchase our LED diodes from both Mouser and Digikey.

My mars reflector 96x3 is rockin my babies at the moment. They love it, can't wait to get plants into big pots and then I'll crank up the other reflector

I've been looking into LED's as well and where you live places a role in that. Grownothern does not offer a 120v model so if your in North America keep that in mind. I had to eliminate them for that reason.

Agree with baybaked would love to spend $750 on there light just because of efficiency, but since I'm in USA they only offer 220v and it won't work here.
They said they might be coming out with a 110v this year, so until then I will be using my mars hydro. But will buy once they offer 110v

I havn't seen any LEDS really impress me, i used to run them, Specturm King is the only LED i seen that actually preforms well. A respected grower did a test grow and pulled 1lb from a 450 watt LED (actual power from the wall).

http://spectrumkingled.com/ there website if you want to check them out.
