Grow Mediums What Medium do you use in Autopots?

I use 50/50 coco/perlite mix with hydroton in the bottom, no reason in particular. I tried a 70/30 mix last time and the girls looked overwatered all through veg, although a few growers here use 100% coco with no problems. I have never used the Grodan cubes, but I believe @Rifleman has in his DWCs. Maybe he will pop in and give his opinion.

I have used the small rockwool croutons(quarter inch squared) in a dwc once before. Worked fine but I prefer using hydroton only. Rockwool is NOT an environmentally safe media and holds too much water for me with small plants. I'm not a good hand waterer.

I don't think I have read a journal here where anyone has tried that. Before I even started with these I read through all the great grow journals in the Autopot section and learned so much. Some of the folks here really have it dialed in and are worth reading from start to finish.

Hey @SAPFO welcome to AFN man... Yeah I switched to straight coco a couple grows ago and have concluded that adding perlite to coco is completely pointless... I'm always trying to make things as simple and easy and possible and this was just an extra step that was unnecessary.

Thanks. I am going to do some reading. I like this place already, everybody seems friendly, and most importantly, we are all singing from the same sheet with our Autopots. I must admit, I was about to ditch them in favor of Alien Hydroponics Easy Feed system as . It looks like my Autopots have had a stay of execution.

I was looking at that system as well but could not get it shipped where I am without paying an arm and a leg. So I got the Autopots and have never looked back. It just does not get any easier.
