What's up with my little fella?

--right!--duh- -stoned eyes kept looking for white bits in the soil, :dizzy:spacing their Fytocell stuff as plainly mentioned! Now that I think about it, some years ago one of these mega-greenhouses I got to visit was using something similar in the Phalaenopsis orchid mix...looked weird, but worked great! So, aeration is fine then-... And this is their first feed you say? ...no N issues then, as I thought... She looks fine on the newer growth, so you're okay for now I think... going micro is a challenge Haunts! Things can change so fast in that small of volume, so be really anal about pH inputs... Oh, about the A8 unit, never let it sit in the medium for more than several minutes, or it might start to corrode the metals; that's how it works, it measures the conductivity differences between the two type of metals at the tip area... and of course, no immersion into liquids either,... do let it sit for 2-3 minutes though, and make sure the soil is nice and moist (not soggy), to get the best readings,... Have you looked at the lime itself yet, is it powdery, or very fine? The box should say what type it is,... most are just ground up limestone, which is mostly CaCO3, small variable amounts of MgCO3; dolomite is the same, but it's molecules are arranged a little differently, making it slower to release compared to others, in fact, it's the slowest... great for long term and durability, not so much for more immediate needs! Often auto's will finish before it starts to really work, unless it's a powdered form, which can react a bit faster... Anyway, see what the label says about exactly what it is, and application rates, if they offer any for pots... Mixing into the soil first is the best thing to do, but at this point, dusting the surface will have to do....how much is the question! I'm guessing about 2T in those 4-5L pots, gently fluff up the surface soil to mix it in some, then water... I'll ask @Eyes on Fire about the dosage ... one thing great about dolomite, it won't raise your pH above 7.0-ish... meantime, you can experiment some first with an pot of soil right from the bag, well moistened..take a pH reading, then mix some in, let it sit for a day, then retest over the next several days just to see how it fast and strongly reacts, as a sort of neutral control group observation... just keep in mind, feeds and some supplements are acidic, the roots themselves alter local pH, the soil 'crobes too,...so it's very dynamic in there, and pre-adjusting your nute's pH helps keep things from getting out of hand fast!

Thanks for this, I'm learning a lot. :d5: The lime box says crushed limestone but nothing about how much to use for pots only to spread 100 - 200g per sq meter. Is that 2 tsps you suggested?
As for the micro growing, it's all the Mrs will allow, she wants it as stealth as possible because of the kids etc. It works out ok because what I yeild lasts us between grows. Maybe when the kids move out I'll be able to do a full size grow. :smoking:
