Live Stoner Chat When do you start your flush?

Thank
Environmental conditions plays a role in this decision. If it is cooler then ripening is slower. If it is warmer it will be faster. If it is hot it will be really fast. I personally like about 20% amber trichomes when I harvest. I grow hydro and harvest the whole plant at once. (Staggered harvesting may be better in other systems.) So all I need is a 3 day flush if you are in soil you need a week. So here is how it plays out for me.

Cool = 10% to 15% amber.
Warm = 8% to 10% amber.
Hot = 5% amber.

Using this general guide I am pretty close to 20% amber 3 days after starting the flush.

Thanks @Mañ'O'Green really appreciate that reply. Great info. Thank you!!

there is a long thread about what is a flush......
i look in a View attachment 915977
when i see an amber i swap the next 2 feeds for just water,then starve it for 3 days and chop.

Thanks for that @archie gemmill yeah I’ve just got my self a little magnifier. When you say you see an amber. Do you mean when you see an amber trichome? Also what medium would you be using?

the leaves turning and pistols and hairs colour is or can be a rough guide to trichs maturity,but its only rough..yep amber trichs.....but i do like to cut earlier than most.im not medical and like the high in my head not me body.
soil biobizz and same nutes

to some people a flush is 3x the pot size to others its just a drink of plain water.as a home grower that uses semi organic nutes and dont push a plant hard.i dont feel the need to flush a lot of nutes out of a plant that didnt get a lot of nutes to start with.
an industrial or pro grower may be pushing a plant with alsorts of chem nutes and boosters,maybe would have to flush out x3.
some say a plant wont uptake much more nutes than it needs so there is nothing really to flush out.
when i make my mind up when to chop normally in 5-7 days time,id give plant 1 or 2 drinks of plain water,let it dry out a bit for 3 days and chop.
i do have a fairly good eye and can give the plant a good go over with a 60x lupe.set the focus in the living room,and dont ever touch the focus knob again,as long as the bud/leaf is flush with the guide focus will be perfect.but can take a bit of playing about with.
you are right in the harvest window i think +/- a week or so.no right n wrong its all personal taste with the % of clear,cloudy,ambers.it can be strain dependant to.
a nice chunky plant you got,happy harvest :pass:
