wassup guys i was just wondering how long seeds usually last when not stored in a fridge..

i have about 4 or 5 seeds sitting in the "crush proof tin" from attitude which is just sitting in a drawer in my room for id say roughly 6 months. i have an AC window unit so sometimes my room is cool and sometimes it will be kinda warm..:toke:

Ok i know that a seed can go bad if not stored properly and wont germinate.

my other question is if u have a seed that may have gone bad due to improper storage and it does germ is there a chance the growth will be slowed or stunted?

or if it germs theres nothing wrong with it? :D

Seed storage is a tricky area. I have some dry beans in my dresser 4 years or so old. I popped one back before I started my journal. It came out 3 days after soaking.
It was bag seed, and I was debating tossing the baggie, instead I decided see if 1 would crack. So now I have these set aside for emergency use. I don't know the strains they came from, and tbh could have been about anything.
I had no intentions to grow the seed. I am sure it would grow just fine if I had not committing seedacide to it

Now for store bought seeds, baby food jars, dissent bags, and fridge for long term over 3 months.

Biggest thing that degrades seeds, humidity, light. Stored in that tin, you shouldn't have seen much if any with your conditions described.

If a seed is damaged it could quite possibly stunt the plant as for storage obviously its better to store in like a fridge but i have always stored mine in a paper bag with some ddry rice and in a tub in the kitchen.. Mind you we have a very cold kitchen lol

Thanks guys, I have 3 pk seeds in there so if they do germ and grow ill compare them to the ones Im doing a journal on now..guess well see if they're behind any :smokebuds:

They must be able to withstand some stress cause I know I had some autos that my bro left and forgot that sat for about 2 years just in there container also and I didn't have a window unit back then and being in tx they must have sat through some real hot temps..one day I found them and they germed as fast as any other and grew fine :D

I store mine in a sealed container full of rice. Then place in the fridge.

I just freeze mine when they are not going to be planted soon and they seem fine when brought back out.

I to keep my bean's in the freezer and never had a problem........the way I see it the freezer mimics what happens in nature, wich as we know can be frozen for years and years and pop up... :2cents:
