Hey guys! :shooty: Im starting a new setup and need some help, I love to go over kill and I think I might be tempted to to do it once again... So I have a 36x20x62" tent coming that will be running a 6 inch extraction with scrubber. Now the question of light arises, should I purchase the Mars Hydro Reflector 96x3w OR 144x5w Mars Hydro Reflector

Some specs.

96x3w-
Quick Overview

UPC:799632839477

LED Output Power:96pcs*3watt

Draw Power:170W~200W

Dimension:559x264x50mm(22*10.4*2 in)

Voltage:AC85~265V

Coverage:4.4'x2.2' Standard

OR.................................

144x5w-
Quick Overview

LED Output Power:144pcs*3watt

Draw Power:250W~300W

Dimension:837x264x50mm(33*10.4*2 in)

Voltage:AC85~265V

Coverage:6.6'x2.2' Standard

I know the smaller light should work by manufacturer specs, but with foliage penetration in mind I would like to produce the densest bud I can.

Also would I be able to run another girl or two if I have the higher power light?

Also how many ladies would you personally run in this setup with the LED you choose?

Also money isn't the biggest issue, I'm buying it once and it will last me some time.

Also side note I have a 50w ufo I could possibly use as side lighting, but I had intentions of giving that to a friend.

Also I know this is kind of a similar topic like the thousands of others, but its not an exact replica :deadhorse:

Thanks in advance! :peace::dragon6::peace: (I forgot how much I love AFN emojis!)

EDIT- Apologies hopefully it is a understandable post now.

sorry dude just seen this the 5 watt chips do have better light penetration but might be a bit intense for young seedlings but you can always start them under the ufo for a week or 2 in saying that i run a mars II 1200 5 watt chip and it is permanently at the top of my tent which is about 6.3 feet tall and i have had no problems with seedling as of yet if it was me i would go with the 5 watt chip more light baby sorry for rambling im :baked: hope that helps

Okay thank for the input. My concern was also it being too much for such a small space. Also 62" is just over 5 feet, I realized this was a bit smaller on arrival of the tent than I pictured in my head. So for $ 100 more it might be worth it.

if your still not to sure head over to tina from mars hydro she will help you out she said a 1600 watt would be better for me but a few of my fellow growers said a 1200 watter would be great and it is heres the link good luck dude

Hey one more quickly question. In your opinion how many plant would you aim to flower in this space of 36x20x62" using a mars 720w 144x5w led, with 4" extraction with phresh carbon scruber?

Hey @mooons I have that exact tent. Feel free to check out my profile to see my current grow. I have 5 gal root builder pots, two 6" clip on fans, cool mist humidifier and 6" carbon filter/exhaust combo. I was using the Old Style Mars Hydro 600w but it was creating entirely too much heat in there. Not trying to bash it because I purchased the light for a reason (low price and decent reviews) however, when put side by side to other lights that are similar, MarsHydro PAR readings are no where close. So the 600w I was using had an actual draw of 284w with the 5w diodes. I've just purchased a platinum LED 150w with 3w diodes. For this tent and two plants this is perfect for me. With the actual wattage draw being between 84w and 130w depending on what setting you have it on. The youtube videos I watched have shown better results, double sometimes triple depending on how far the light is from your plants in its par reading. If heat is an issue, I'd prefer my plants at least get the best light possible with the best penetration. That MarsHydro was causing unnecessary heat without the light penetration to show for it. There are many people who will argue what is what when it comes to LED and wattage and par and distance, etc....There is plenty of info out there for you just research it. Now, you could possibly get away with the mars hydro if you have intake but with this tent, the bottom ports are so small so I just use the flaps at the bottom as passive vents and it still remained to hot. Whatever you go with, please keep me updated. Before I purchased my tent, I searched far and wide for any information, grow journals from people using this tent for the purpose I was. A few far and wide but no one ever finished a grow. I'm trying my best to dial this heat in and with the new LED coming in, I should be able to do so. I'll keep you posted:pass:
