Grow Mediums white mold in my dwc?

Gave a clone to a friend that was doing really good and had a lot of roots coming off it all the way into the dwc bucket but when I removed it from the net pot looked like white mold was on the roots what would cause this?

Don't put mylar over your net pot. It traps water and doesn't let the clay balls won't dry out
