Hi everyone, well here is my first journal! Here's a quick rundown of what I'm using:

Home made Grow Cab 38"x 31"x 20"
4" inline fan+filter
300w dual spectrum CFL
Mylar
PC fans for intake fresh air
Biobizz Allmix
Biobizz Grow
Biobizz Bloom
Rain Water

I'm trying to keep it as natural/organic as possible. I don't want huge plants, it's for personal medical needs, hence my choice of auto's for fast turn around times. I'm trying out 6 liter and 2 liter pots. No transplanting or anything. Here's a pic of my Cab.

114.jpg

I've not got much space, 1.5-2 ft plants my max.
I also have an Auto Assassin and Mango Ryder on the go. The Mango is experiencing the same problems all my previous attempts did. I think it's soil PH and over-watering. Any ideas anyone?

131.jpg

All my plants have died so far, they exhibit the symptoms like the bigger Mango Ryder above. Droopy, pale etc, usually around 25-35 days.

But I'm hopeful for the White Widow. 6 days old, in a small 2 litre pot, she looks good....I'm not watering until I see some change in her just so I know.

I am subbed for this one, lets see if we can get you to a successful harvest.

Helo Dazed,

Good looking set up you got thier, you got a great filtration set up.

I will hope to see these kids grow BIG!

:Sharing One:

Peace

Hey Dazed! :)

Liking the cab setup!

I think it's soil PH and over-watering. Any ideas anyone?
I think you've hit the nail on the head mate - Most likely overwatering. I pick up the pots and only water when they are light (Like polystyrene light)

The PH should be kept around 6.3-6.5.

Try letting you pot dry out and then water again. If she's light green, she probably wants a bit more feed!

Hope this helps a little
All the best

Blue ^_^

Hey all, thanks so much for all the posts so far. WW still looking healthy, normal growth, pot is light to pick up but I can see the soil at the bottom isn't completely dry yet and she certainly doesn't seem to be asking for water so I'm leaving well alone!

Hey seraphim, really appreciate the support. I almost gave up last week and so glad I didn't.

Hey pop, do you have any threads with your grow I could browse, really interested to see how you did?

Oh and thanks eek, I don't want them too big however! I took a lot of time to make the cab, I honestly thought that was going to be the hard part......little did I know!

And I think you are right Blue, over watered for sure. Still looking the same today, but not as bad. I think by next week will be totally dry and I can see what happens from there. I'm still really confused as to soil PH. I try to maintain it. I purchased a soil PH meter today. It's no use, I need to find something more accurate.

Well here are some pictures of the White Widow.

Dazed! Brother!
Hope I'm not breaking the rules by posting this pics but here is how the Mango looks today.
We love pics here, so snap away!!
I think Blue is spot on, this looks like an over watering issue. What is your temp and RO in the cabinet? And did you ammend the soil, or was it straight from the bag to the pot?
Overly wet or poor draining soil can starve your roots of oxegen; at the very least adding course, washed sand to your mix would help for your next grow. The faster drainage also helps pull more fresh O2 to the roots.
Let 'em dry out. When you think they're way too dry, wait another day. Or two.
Learning the signs of too wet vs to dry is easy, and will save you a lot of grief! Best to err on the dry side. :peace:

Finding your Soil PH :)

Hey Dazed :) (thanks for the rep buddy!)

I'm still really confused as to soil PH. I try to maintain it. I purchased a soil PH meter today. It's no use, I need to find something more accurate.

Here you go buddy, this is something i've used and given out for a long time. It may take a few minutes to get your head around ... but this is a dying plant savior! hehe (and the route to a successful grow)

PH Calculation Guide by GoAuto6

Rough Calculation Guide:

Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5

Hi guys, how is everyone, good I hope :tiphat:. Daily update haha, the little one is looking good. The Assassin is also looking fine, slight discoloration here and there, nothing to worry about I hope. The SMR is starting to perk up I THINK. Looked a little better this morning, but the soil is still damp around 3" down. For any new growers, like I am, I honestly didn't realize how much I was underestimating the wetness of the soil. After 4 days, it's still wet. She keeps looking a little better, then drooping, looking a little better, drooping again. I do think she will improve though, she is still growing which is crazy to me! We had a huge rain storm here today, so I was checking out plants and trees outside, they had some serious droop going on haha, so I suppose that's no different. Fingers crossed!

Hey Blue, thanks so much for the PH info. I'm not sure if the rainwater is too low, I need a tester that's more accurate than what I'm using. Do I need different tools to test water/soil/ph/ppm? What are you guys all using?

Hey Renaissance, how goes it?! My temps are around 75-80 at the top of the cab next to the light, at the bottom with the pots around 70. At night it drops to 62-65.I think I've over-watered because the top of the pot is drying out quicker than the bottom, esp with the intake fans being so close blowing colder air in.

What is RO? My meter doesn't go below 30% humidity, but I think it's just under that. Sometimes it goes to 35-38, I have cups of water with sponges in to put some moisture in there. Does this sound ok or could some of this be causing me problems?

This is such a great site! It's awesome to finally be able to talk to fellow growers and know I'm not alone in the love and respect for such an important plant.

Well here are some snaps for you all.

Hey dude nice looking set up and plants :tiphat:

Try feel the weight of the pot when fully wet then when its dry and the you can gauge it better when to water.:pimp:

For the PH and EC I have a Check!t pH meter and the same EC meter.

Try and move the cold intake away from the pots as you don't want the roots to be cold, need those baby's nice and snug

I think he means RH not RO, I could be wrong.
RH is , Relative Humidity
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relative_humidity

You could get a small humidifier for about £30 €40 but the sponge and towels can work.
30%-38% is a bit low but nothing too bad really. Mine stay like that till some buds start chunking up :pimp:

Sorry if you knew any other this already.:peace:

I have a Dinafem WhiteWidow on the go at the moment, I also grew the Royal Queen Seeds Auto WhiteWidow as a first and it was a cracker if I do say myself.....lol

Good luck and sending some good vibes your way. :pimp:
