Hey all,

Here are some pictures of my 12 day old white widow cheese autos under a 400w MH.

I was wondering whether or not I should start LST'ing my girls? I have about 10 feet of vertical space, so height is not an issue. Would it be worth it to LST them to increase yield? Or should I just let them be?

if you have no height issues id leave them be. even low stress training is some stress and even if small youll probably lose out on some growth and eventually yield.
they look great.

I agree with Bgrt. Might as well let them grow if you can. Instead you might just tuck the big fans to expise the buds to the light. I have to lst almost every thind I grow and it does stress them a little. The ones I lst are always just a little behind the plants I don't.:2cents: Very good question btw:thumbs:

i agree that lst was/is used for height reasons...but on the other hand, yield is the reason for sog & scog...i've grown a few plants in different ways, and ever time i've incorporate lst my yields go up...a conservative guess would be by 20%. but anyhow it was about the apical structure of the plant and how the closest part of the plant/tree produces more auxin hormone causing that part to be larger...when applying the lst technique it allows this auxin to be evenly dispersed cause all branches to be king branches or cola buds...thus greater yield...

depending on the grow area it might be easier to light the whole plant better if its lst'd but id say his 400 mh would be ok without it anyway unless they get really tall. lst seems more beneficial for lights with a short penetration range like cfl and t5s etc.

i dont understand what your trying to say...its always better lite penetration when lst'ed...lst is always beneficial, as i stated above...it is the reason for sog & scrog because yields are better...

wasnt arguing just saying more useful in that situation when it comes to autos and not wasting veg time.

no worries man...but im going to get the point across that any good grower who has an understanding of lst and incorporates it will increase their yield...it is a fact...and lst insures there is no shading allowing for optimal penetration...

this is colossus from 7dwarfs, she is my 1st lst, but only by necessity. she forgot to auto and had become 4' tall and the lite was no longer penetrating the way i would prefer. so i gave her own 400w hps and let her cook...View attachment 195480View attachment 195481View attachment 195482View attachment 195483View attachment 195484colossus8.jpg
lst doesn't necessarily mean you got to tie stuff down...in the case of this plant i simple allowed the lite to persuade it until i could tie it up to keep it from lying on the floor. if you notice there are alot of branches and every nug is near identical...not likely if i would have allowed her to stay uprite...sure the main cola would have been larger, but not nearly big enough to make up for what she did throw...
