Grown under 24 light start to finish
I use 24 light partly because I want to keep temp at a constant to reduce stretch, which is part of my method to keep plants compact.
I guess I could use a heater in dark period to keep temps up but I would only save £2 a week (minus the heating cost) and I am happy with the results I get.
I guess we all have our little differences in grow technique and sometimes by doing things differently we will either learn from our mistakes or discover new or different ways of growing.
Take for example FIM, which stands for "Fuck I Missed", someone wanted to top a plant but didn't quite manage to and Fimming was born as a technique.
Some time ago (years)I Fimmed & Scrogged a Super Critical plus, this was at a time when the general consensus was that you could not FIM or Scrog autos, I didn't listen and did it anyway, now no one blinks an eye about fimming autos.
In the past there was also a consensus that you should never re-pot an auto but people do although there are techniques like, trying not to disturb the roots so not to stunt them.
These plants above are deliberately stunted at first signs of sex and re-potted to final container, by doing this and keeping the temp constant 24Hrs a day keeps them short and compact but full of bud.
If I had the space I may not stunt them, but i don't so I had to find a way to get the results I wanted, so I employed techniques that would give me what I wanted.
Every grow and grower are unique and need to grow to the set of circumstances that effects them,
If a grower is a novice, then following general rules of thumb is a good way to start but as time passes you will find you try new ways to grow and sometimes even try things which may be frowned upon or told you can't do it.
Just remember at the start of the Automatic revolution how many nay sayers there were, saying autos were rubbish and would never catch on and would never be as good as photos.
Also remember that at the same time LED lights were frowned upon and it was said that they would never be able to get close to HID lights when it comes to production.
Now both LED and Automatics are kicking serious ass and AFN has had a significant part to play in this process.
Horses for courses, but if you know nothing of horses or courses you need to learn about them before you start to gamble with your own methods.
I am still learning and I seriously doubt that I will ever stop learning new and interesting things about growing cannabis and I will no doubt learn it here at AFN from other members but I will always question perceived wisdom as once upon a time we were told the Earth was flat and the Sun revolved around Earth.
That's just me, I am an awkward old sod who doesn't like to be told I can't do something when I know I can at least but try, I am also a friendly person who is always happy to help where I can.
