What up afn ive been looking at new growing mediums for my next round of autos but since money's tight right now im gna grow out some photo freebies I have with some cheap soil I grabbed at home depot.

Basically I mixed 50% top soil with 50% manure and humus compost that had a .05-.05-.05 npk

I added 2 big bags of enriched perlite with a .01-.04.-06 npk

And 1 cup bone meal
2 1/2 cups dolomite lime

Do u think its safe to start seeds directly into the mix??? Help a bro out

Forgot to add I have a full set of nutrients

More than likely it will. Manure, bone meal, compost and top soil doesn't sound like a very friendly environment. I'd of done more of a peat base and worked my way out. Only way to tell for sure is to grow some beans in it. I'd dilute it with some seed starter mix or something along those lines.

WG has a great point....this soil mix sounds a bit hot. You have to watch that when it comes to autos. Most of the time something that has ferts in it will cause a good deal of male plants. Now the levels that you are talking about seem little but at the same time you may see the male population. there is no need to push them just give them time, if you do they will reward you more than anything that you have grown in the past.

Thanks for the input just dropped one to test it out.. but it is a puny seed so idk hopefully its all good. Thanks attitude for freebies lol

I planted the tiny Vintage 2006 seed and germinated it directly in the soil and it's looking good so far nice and green. So glad I got lucky lol bout to drop a jack diesel, gigabud, and critical hogg photos all female wish me luck!!

Start journal for sure. You need to worry about manure. It needs to be completely composted, sometime it says it is on the bag, but is not. I also would not trust "enriched" perlite much. Perlite should be totally inert. Is it miracle grow perlite? Try not to over water as some times that causes those "enrichment" nutrient to be released too quick and can burn. Bone meal won't burn stuff and as long as the lime is mixed well and the soil PH is OK you should be good.

I appreciate the insight. Yeah the perlite is miracle grow and the manure/humus compost was a cheap brand too. I'll start a journal up once all the girlies are a few weeks old. Stay tuned bros!! I'll need all of yalls help!!
