hello good people at afn
i just got a lumenaire 6in air cooled sealed reflector but i hav'nt got the fan for it yet. can i still turn it on. been growing with cfls. wronge ones i guess.growing since june 2010.failed every time, but i have been reading here for months. and feel more confident

Hey Lou,sorry to here about your past growing adventures mate,this time will be much better bud :group: I'm not familiar with the product you have but I'd guess without the fan the temps could get pretty high.what power bulb are you using mate?

welcome to afn! sounds like that reflector is sealed tight, i wouldn't recommend it...it would get really hot.

hi it's a 250 watts hps bulb. the hood has glass cover i can open to install bulb plus open on both sides to be vented. do i make any sence

Yes mate that makes sense.As smashed mentions in his post it will get very hot,i thinks it's best to wait for your fan bud :smokebuds:

You could try running it without any plants in there and see what the temps get. Just watch to make sure it doesn't start a fire :hot:

w/ the glass open & the vents too, i would say there is no worries of over heating...but only if its all open...

wait for your fan bud I am in the same thing just got a new cooltube but no fan to cool it wait for your fan bud it will come then you can get it going and not cook the plants :booya:

I have accidentally left my fan off for like 3 hours with my 1000 watt running and it only got to 80 but its been below freezing outside everyday. I would say at least give it a try without any plants in there. I'm not an expert but I don't see it being too much of a problem with a 250w. If you have any other fans you could also try aiming them at the light and that should lower the temp a bit. That's just my but either way I hope your next grow turns out great and I'm sure it will with the help from all your new AFN friends! :group:
