Live Stoner Chat Would you smoke geneticly engineered weed?

I've probably never turned down one passed to me, unless I knew it was sherm ,or? So I won't ever say never. But I think it makes organic even more important. I wouldn't knowingly if I have a choice.

What the hell? $20,000 per seed? And I thought $15 a seed was highway robbery lol.

Even the non gmo 12 hour high would be a blast to try! I wonder why their 40 and 50% thc strains are relatively unheard of. Maybe the cost alone just makes it impossible for most smokers to ever get their hands on. Those prices are insane, but I can understand it if they really are what they claim.

I found out it's a scam site and people have been very upset about them since at least 2010. Not to be trusted and too good to be true claims. Damn i'd got all excited about it aswell lol,oh well back to reality! It's very upsetting that somebody would do this. I wonder how much money they stole from people who were naive? Bet it's alot........saw alot of people online saying they didn't get their seeds etc. They probobly rely on the fact that it's illegal and people wont want to make a complaint about it incase their grow-op or intentions are exposed to law enforcement agencies. Maybe they are actualy cops? Very fishy!

P.S got a security warning trying to view their terms and conditions, about us etc pages. The security certificate is self signed and was only valid untill 2011 LOL. OMG noobs. Also the whois info is private........

Just wait, someone will get too it.

After taste testing my organic Red Poison, and seeing the monsters Tang grows, and everything in between, I just don't know that I need weed any better than it is lol.

Ah, yeah I see now, got all the marks of a scam site. Almost had me confused it with BC Bud Depot or whatever the legit good one like that is... A*holes named it like that on purpose surely lol.

Just found this. http://billybudd.zappersoftware.com/polyploidy.html. I remember years ago i was reading about artificialy produced hybrids of 2 distantly related plant species that could not be crossed due to have differing numbers of chromosomes. What they were able to do was get thousands of seeds of the 2 different species and apply a chemical to each of them that messed up the chromosome numbers randomly. Alot of those seeds would not even germinate after treatment with the chemical. I can't remember what it was im still trying to find out what it was online. It might be "colchicine" but i don't think it was if my memory is correct.....

From what i remember they used the colchicine on the F2 seeds that were produced by the F1 hybrids .The first chemical (that i can't remember) was used to create the messed up seeds that were the F1's parents. What this chemical was doing was changing the number of chrmosomes the parent plant would have in their genome. This was a crude method of genetic modification and would render alot of the seeds non-viable but the ones that survived might have missing chromosomes or extra chromosomes due to this chemical interfering with the plants development from a seed to fully grown. This allowed plants that were distantly related to eachother to be hybridised by making them more compatable with eachother. If the breeders were lucky they would end up with a plant from each of the 2 species that had the same number of chromosomes and already share enough of their genetic code to enable them to be compatable enough to breed together and create a hybrid.

These F1 hybrids for some reason or another (maybe genetic damage?) would produce sterile seeds when bred together and they wouldn't develop when attempts were made at germination so they would use the colchicine on them and for some reason they would be viable.
They would take these F2 seeds and would be able to breed them together and produce viable seeds without any addition of colchicine.

What i was wondering is if it would be possable to take Hops and Cannabis seeds and do this to them to create a hybrid species? I'l try and find the exact article i read all those years ago but it might be difficult so if anyone here is a plants genetics expert then please let me know if this is possable or if you have heard of this type of thing before?

I sure hope I get my million back. I knew I shouldn't have sent cash.

Sounded a little too sketchy to me from the beginning. Glad I dont have the money to invest in seeds that expensive, or I might have been dumb enough to do so lol. All I know is Ive had my run in with Synthetic Cannabonoids, and Im never going there again. So, that 16 hour BS makes me think og those synthetic Cannabonoids which are definitely not good news. Ill stick to regular NON-GMO cannabis please and thanks.

Besides, I was thinking, with $20k, you could grow a LOT of extremely high grade herb with seed readily available lol. Say $1000 for a hundred Skywalker Kush or Super Silver Haze. Then ya still got 19k. Say electricity will be $3k or $4k (no idea just guessing lol). So $15k for nutes, gear, staff, soil, incidentals, whatever. Probably end up with a few K left. But ok 100 plants if imagining none fail or die haha yeah right. Or 98 if you find 2 great parents to make seed for next time lol. 98, times 3oz per plant (just a guess, I know experts could get way better) is 294 ounces, at $250 an oz wholesale? (another probably bad guess lol) makes about $73,000 in theory. Just saying we don't need a superweed plant.

But since I'm rambling on about it anyways lol... I think there could /would /should be a couple other issues that ought to be addressed before making a "forever" plant. Such as mold resistance, better canabinoid content (not THC, I think we've got about enough of that now lol), better density, stuff like that. Still don't think I'd be interested though, just saying :)
