Indoor wtf are these, please help!

just with sand i dont see any gnats at all now. do sand as your first priority, traps shouldnt be needed. unless they are breeding somewhere outside your plant pots (if they have spread to your house plants, etc) in which case it will be needed.

heres a pic of one i found crawling around..

i had a plant that wasnt growing well and looked like a runt so i decided to throw it. ..
i saw some of these crawling at the surface and while pouring out the soil and looking through it more i noticed more of these crawling around in the moist soil that was at the bottom :face:

are they just baby gnats or something? ive had gnats before i think and id always find them dead and they had noticable wings, these things look different and ive even seen some outside my pots just like crawling around my vent

they arent thrips or aphids? i literally try to keep my room, tent, grow area spotless and seeing these crawling around is literally driving me crazy :cuss:

Muddy-san is spot on, mate.... safe organic approved nukes include pyrethrum ( a natural neurotoxin found in chrysanthemums) and spinosad ( a toxin produced by a rare bacterium that's selective to bugs only); neither will impact the plant tissues at all; I'm trying Spinosad now, on aphids, and occasional thrips that try to move in on my outdoor grow, and it's works very well; be sure to add some water spreader to any soln. you buy or make up to maximize coverage and aid in soil penetration; also, long term (larvae) diatomaceous earth on soil surface/subsurface will help (DE is to them the micro-equivalent of us crawling over a field of broken glass shards); neem will work too, but these othere's are better IMO... :smoke: now, go forth and- :ama:!

Uh-uh, sorry... but FF usually has quality products; gnats are ubiquitous Fweedom, and a few are sure to be found just about anywhere, save in a sealed, pre-sterilized everything environment...You have no doubt a breeding population, but they're so easy to kill compared to other things, try not to get to worked up! You could have spider mites, or thrips- shit-shit-shitty!! Just get on them now and qwash the invasion...

Thanks waira, yeah I was getting scared thinking they were Thrips but if they're gnats i think I can kill them off, should i water in some mosquito dunks? :smokebuds:

Id stick with muddy on this one and do the sand and flystrips, i am new to indoor, but we used to get them in the greenhouse. i dont see it mentioned here anywhere and it might be a bad idea for indoor use, but we used diatomaceous earth (ground up fossils) to help keep nasties at bay in the outdoor/and the greenhouse.

Hey Muddy.. you ever use DE on MMJ? i'll see if i can find any info because i certainly don't want to steer yah wrong. i just thought of it while reading this post. peace and luck :toke:

Looks like one of two things fungus gnats or root aphids.

Fungus Gnats are an easy fix, my preferred method is misquotes dunks and sticky traps, but sand/DE work great as I'm sure most sprays would as well.

I think what you have there are Root Aphids. I've never seen a gnat with antennae and they usually don't cruse around the soil like that. Gnats are too busy flying around dumbly. Try scraping back some of the dirt on top then you can usually see them swarming around just under the surface, whitish/greenish/or brownish little bug in the dirt. The one in you vid is a mature flying one. If you are 45-60 days from Harvest use imidacloprid STRONG! It does not really bother the plants and doesn't seem to do much the soil microbes and you only need to treat 1-2 times. If you are closer to harvest you'll have to find something else most of the natural stuff only slows them down.
