What up everybody?

I have tried several times to grow outdoors. These have ended in failure mostly due to grasshoppers and poor planning.

I have been interested in auto flowering strains for a while now, and recently decided to take the plunge. I will be using

a 36 gallon tub set up vertically with a 300w mars-hydro led and a couple 6500K CFLs. I will have a 4 in inline duct fan

from htg with a home made carbon filter, a computer fan for intake, and if room another fan for strengthening the stems.

This will be a soil grow and this is one thing I am concerned about. I will only be growing one plant at a time and first I am

going to start Blue Mystic Auto from Nirvana. I will use a 3 gallon pot I want to use either fox farms ocean forest or coco loco,

but I am afraid these will be too nutrient rich for the seedling. I have heard that transplanting autoflowers is not ideal

because the stress and short life cycle, I was wondering if anyone could comment as to this and as to their experience with

either oocean forest or coco loco. Thanks everyone!

Welcome BadRabbit, to AFN.

This topic has come up several times here, but the jist is, FF ocean forrest is just too hot for seedlings and needs to be cut 50/50 with FF happy frog or Light warrior. Coco needs to be watered every day and the ph needs to be dropped lower than using Ocean forrest. If you are going to use Ocean forrest, there needs to be dolomite lime added to it, to keep the soil ph up. There are better mediums to grow with out there. pro mix, sunshine, biobizz, FF K9 kube.

Hiya BadBunny,

good advice from Briman, as always. I would use a std compost from a garden outlet to start with. Unless you are experienced, going coco coir is tricky. Well it was for me. lol !

I like to keep it simple. It suits my IQ.

Enjoy all that is AFN, eP.

Thank you all very much! I guess I won't be going coco as I am not used to having to water everyday.

So the pro mix should fine for seedlings? Is there anything you would recommend before I decide on pro mix?

Once again, thank you all and sorry for asking such a commonly asked question.

No question is too daft. If you have to ask, then it is a fair question.

I am not familiar with US brands but, I think Pro mix should be fine. You may want to add 1/3 perlite to lighten up the soil. Don't add any plant food until you have established sets of leaves. Don't over water (like I always do) and sing to them. They love it, ask Elvis!

Good luck and keep in touch.

eP.

FFOF will burn a little bit. Transplanting may stunt growth, at least that is what I hear. My little one had no problem with the transplant and shot preflowers yesterday, day 30. She didn't like the FFOF at first though. Burnt a couple of her little fingers.
