I just rewatched "Interstellar" on bluray. :Woozy..?:

It was excellent. I was thinking,"Would I put 'Interstellar' in my top three sci-fi movies?".
My top three right now are:

"Children Of Men" (2006)-In 2027, in a chaotic world in which women have become somehow infertile, a former activist agrees to help transport a miraculously pregnant woman to a sanctuary at sea.

"Alien" (1979)-
The commercial vessel Nostromo receives a distress call from an unexplored planet. After searching for survivors, the crew heads home only to realize that a deadly bioform has joined them.

"Serenity" (2005)-
In the future, a spaceship called Serenity is harboring a passenger with a deadly secret. Six rebels on the run. An assassin in pursuit. When the renegade crew of Serenity agrees to hide a fugitive on their ship, they find themselves in an awesome action-packed battle between the relentless military might of a totalitarian regime who will destroy anything - or anyone - to get the girl back and the bloodthirsty creatures who roam the uncharted areas of space. But, the greatest danger of all may be on their ship.

"Guardians Of The Galaxy" (2014) is knocking at the door to get in as well.

What's your top three science fiction movies? I'm thinking "Lord Of The Rings" et al should be under "My Top Three Fantasy Movies".

I prefer older sci-fi movise, my top five include

2001: A Space Odyssey(1968)
Solyaris (1972)
The Matrix - all three
Moon(2009)
Terminator 1 and 2

...A Clockwork Orange and some more.

To be honset I think Interstellar could be made way better, I found it disappointing on so many levels.

Under the Skin (2014)
Blade Runner (1992, the Director's Cut)
The Man from Earth (2007)

Aliens vs Cowboys

Alien

Into Darkness

I know "Aliens vs Cowboys" was rated pretty bad, but I enjoyed it. I like westerns and adding sci-fi to it tickled me.
Have you seen "Monsters"? I think it is still on Netflix. Special effects were "very first feature film" quality but I enjoyed the story.

I loved Aliens vs Cowboys! And my son and I luaghed so hard!

O'll check out monsters also. 12 Monkeys was fun also. a couple other of my favorites wereThe Ilustrated Man, and something Wicked This Way Comes

I watched "Battle Beyond the Stars" like a zillion times as a kid, so it still has a spot on my list in the "cheesy nostalgic" category (along with the original Battlestar Galactica series).

Others in that category would also include "Logan's Run", "Buck Rodgers", and of course the wonderfully scored by Queen classic, "Flash Gordon".

In the more serious categories, though, I'd have to go with "Tron: Legacy", "Serenity", and "Titan: AE" as three of the top of my head. So many good ones to choose from it's hard to say.

Not really a top three, but some of my favorites are:

at the top Star Wars from most to least favorite: Episode 4, 6, 5, 2, 3, 1
after that Alien and Aliens (what came after became worse and worse)
Predator
Terminator

Could go on after this but those are some that made the biggest impressions. Mostly my rule for sci-fi is story before special effects. If that is the case I'm mostly cool with it ;)
Want to see the new SW movies and hope there'll be a sequel to Prometheus.

1) Contact... science policy, science politics, for my 2 cents it is the of the very, very few real sci fi movies ever made.

2) Aliens.. gets me every damn time

3) Blade Runner feeds my jones for Noir movies and the genetically enhanced.

Honorable Mention: Matrix. Now do you believe, Trinity?

Honorable Mention in the not a movie category...
Pandora's Star.

My dad took me to aliens in the theater when it came out. I was like 10 and had nightmares for months afterwards, still high on my list, along with alien. The original Predator was pretty good also IMO.
