New Grower Zero-potency autos :(

steelrat, what strains are you growing that you're noticing this on? Who is the breeder? How long are you letting your plants go? Is the "weak plant" that you keep noticing always being grown in the same spot? Did you properly dry and cure your buds? What are you temperatures in your growing room and where you dry/cure at? Have you had any days where you had large temperature fluctuations? Any chance they got heat or light burned?

Do you have pictures of the plants you're talking about? Did you grow and journal them here on AFN? Got a link?

There are a TON of variables between start and finish that could affect the potency.

I have noticed this in every grow with these strains :

AKR.
Starryder.
Snowryder.
Taiga.
Auto Assassin.

and probably a few others i can't remember right now.

I was told that the only thing that effects potency is the strain There's a lot i don't know !

I have just completed my 7th grow, which is my first LED grow and that is documented here :

The previous six grow were all under a quality CFL (250W Plug and Grow flowering bulb, 10-inch utubes).

All the grows are indoor cab grows.

My plants are always covered in trichs.

I never harvest early.

I dry for as long as it takes (3 to 9 days).

I cure for two weeks before i start smoking it, but it stays in jars curing.

My best ever haul was 4 ounces of starryder (not bad from a 250W cfl and 2L pots!) :



I use Plant Magic organic compost and nutes, which are highly respected here in the UK.

I always run 18/6, my temperatures vary very little.

I just don't know what i could be doing wrong, i've asked other people and it's rarely happened to them without the plant having been stressed somehow.

I can't imagine AKR and Auto Assassin ever coming out with no potency. Those are two of the most powerful auto strains I've grown. And I've had plants that were stunted by cold, heat, pH, getting hit by falling lights, and all kinds of things, but that only seemed to affect the yield, not the potency. Very strange... :dunno:

I just don't understand it. It's also really annoying nurturing the things for 70+ days and then they smoke like oregano !

The weird thing is, this time round, the AKR that was potent was absolutely gorgeous, most of us have smoked AKR and we know what a narcotic smoke it is.

One of the other two AKR's was weak and the third had no effect at all.

I took some round to friends so they could try and they agreed - no effect

I mean check this, when i used a CFL i followed all the guidelines, keeping them close to the light, plenty of air, good temps etc ..



I don't have any control over my humdity, it's always 30-45%, could that be it, humidity constant throughout the grow ?

Humidity is not your problem... that is a "ok" RH.

Tolerance? how much do you smoke?

As regards tolerance, i smoke about an ounce per month.

Pictures of plants, here's some chosen at random from late bloom to harvest to dried, the weak plants look just like their sisters from the same grow so there are no visual clues :

As for my growing method :

1. seeds in glasses of water until they crack.
2. seeds in damp kitchen towel wrapped in clingfilm stored in dark, warm place.
3. when taproot is over 0.5cm i plant into the soil.

I keep my seedlings moist for the first week, then start watering them.

I don't introduce nutes until around two weeks then start them off on :

0.5ml Plant Magic Veg
0.25ml Plant Magic biosilicon

They normall get bloom from around day 40.

The new cab is a foot taller (4ft) than the old one.
