Fastbuds Gorilla Glue & Crystal Meth

20220502_164603.jpg
Hi all, quick intro...

This is my third year growing autos, started in the conservatory, lockdown year 1 with limited success.
Year 2 got a cheap grow tent (80x80x160) and cheap blurple light off Ebay also with some success but then upgraded to spider farmer sf1000 with better results on a Fastbuds White Widow.

Year 3 (this year) I invested in a spider farmer sf2000, spider farmer tent (70x140x200) and also their inline fan and carbon filter. Set it all up and got 2 Gorilla Glue and 1 Crystal Meth on the go. I only found this community today so the first pictures are from today which is day 46.

Medium is Biobizz all mix in 11 litre pots
Nutes are all biobizz (grow, bloom, top max, heaven) with calmag and pH down (tapwater here is 7+ naturally).

Light was on 24/7 for first 4 weeks then down to 18/6 as soon as the pre flowering started.
I put the sf1000 in as GG#1 was significantly bigger and I could control light to canopy distance without compromising the other 2 - effectively now an sf3000!!

I'm not a veteran but hopefully this is of interest to some and I can help others along their journey...

Happy growing

Day 47

Crystal Meth got 3 litres of Biobizz week 6 with a pH 6.47.

Some nice purple coming through on the veins of the upper leaves...

Day 50

A bit of a setback, all 3 plants seem to be flushing through at a pH under 6 (around 5.5) despite religiously ensuring input pH is 6.3 - 6.7 and not going mental (sticking to the schedule) with the biobizz nutes...
GG#1 looks to be suffering with slightly off colour (yellow side of green) leaves and a bit of drooping while the other 2 look ok...
I can only really think whatever buffers the natural peat pH in the Biobizz allmix has depleted...? Keeping calm and upping the input pH while dropping the nutes to hopefully redress the balance...

Day 55

Well, after much deliberation around deficiencies and pH problems not to mention rummaging through the wealth of knowledge here I have settled on the simplest diagnosis. Previous grows have all tended to go wrong mid flower with yellowing leaves progressing to out and out damage. I live in East Anglia and we have some of the hardest water in the UK (water butt already bought and rainwater only for next grow!), couple that with me foolishly thinking cal/mag deficiency and adding more once a week for the last week or so and I think it must be lock out!
From reading on here not sure Biobizz all mix was the best choice, light mix seems to be the consensus here for autos.

Correct me if I'm wrong but less nutrient uptake means more nutrient build up which means lower pH out?! Anyway, spent some money on cheap supermarket spring water and gave this, plain, to Crystal Meth today with run off coming up from 5.6 to 6.1, so hopefully back in range next water.
Gorilla Glue #2 is fattening up and interestingly seems to have developed a flattened triple (at least) main cola (pic 3). Not sure if this was down to my mistakes or just genetics/mutation but hopefully all is not lost.
GG#1 has stalled a bit and looks the worst but with plenty of buds I hope, when back on track, will still deliver a decent weight.
Note to self; keep it simple, take care of the details and don't overthink it. Though I could still be wrong...

Day 57

Just a few photos from today...

1, 2 + 3 are Crystal Meth
4 Gorilla Glue #2
5 + 6 Gorilla Glue #1

Day 63

A little bit late but here's some photos of Gorilla Glue and Crystal Meth from Thursday. I've gone away for a long weekend so watered heavily (soaked in a bucket) before leaving on Friday morning and hoping they'll be ok until Monday afternoon (day 67). Hopefully a little stress at this late stage will do them good and they should be about ready for the chop...

Day 76

It's been a while so just a little update on progress...

Crystal Meth is very nearly ready for the chop with a few amber trichs, I thought she was there last week but want to make absolutely sure so will leave till this weekend, I think, likewise for Gorilla Glue #2. GG #1 is bigger in size and yield but will be at least another week and more likely 2. I get so impatient towards the end and I've just got a stock of Grove Bags that I'm itching to try, not to mention the paper bag drying....

Here's a few wee pics from today

Day 78

So last night was day 78 and time to chop and trim FB Crystal Meth. I got 10 1oz and 10 1/4oz (for gifts) grove bags last week and also got hold of some paper potato sacks for drying in. The sacks are large and allow plenty of room to space things out but were made up of 3 layers so I cut off the outer 2. It's my first time using the paper bag method to dry and also grove bags to cure, found out about both since joining AFN...

Weighed 395.6g after the wet trim. I've noticed in past grows that after drying it's usually about 20% of the initial weight so should be 70-80g

Here's some pics and happy growing. :smoking::thumbsup:

Day 93

Gorilla Glue #1 finally got chopped, I messed around with schwazzing. Perhaps this slowed her down towards the end, and I definitely didn't want to chop on the early side, but it certainly doesn't seem to have affected her yield.

On a separate note Crystal Meth is out of paper bags and into grove bags for at least a month. 86g dried, she got a bit grassy so looking forward to the smell and taste building in the cure. Had a test smoke and she's all in the head, smells like fruity medicine in the grinder.

Day 108 from seed

So here we are at the end of my first (all be it only from day 50) AFN grow. So much learned - thanks to the generosity of this community! - that will be put into practice next grow but so far this has been my best. The results are;
Crystal Meth 86g
Gorilla Glue no.2 64g
Gorilla Glue no.1 166g

Total for the grow is 316g.

I'm really enjoying the Crystal Meth but undecided on the Gorilla Glue, perhaps my expectations are too high, but I just expected more...

Anyhoo, here they are in their grove bags.

Got a fortnight's holiday at the end of July so next run will start early August, cheers all :thanks: :smoking:

She's a strong heady mix of pine, lemon and skunk. Definitely one for the neighbourhood watch if I didn't have a filter running... :crying:
