Germination (Days 0 - 4)

Quick post to detail the germination process of my first grow...

I used the paper towel method with untreated tap water with two ILGM Grandaddy Purple Auto seeds. I placed them between two damp paper towels and packed them in a small Tupperware container and set them inside my tent with the lights out on the evening of Wednesday, September 29. I was pretty surprised to see how small the seeds are, but both successfully germinated, showing tap roots on the morning of Friday, October 1.

At this point, I began soaking two 1.5 inch rockwool cubes in tap water treated with pH down to 5.5. After 24 hours, I prepared 1 quart of seedling nutrient solution using the recipe below.

1. 1 quart bottled distilled water
2. GH Flora Micro - 0.25 mL
3. GH Flora Grow - 0.25 mL
4. GH Flora Bloom - 0.25 mL
5. GH Rapid Start - 0.25 mL
6. ph down to 5.5

The 24 hour rockwool soak was just enough time to allow the seedlings to develop a taproot that was about an inch long and was getting fuzzy with little hairs. I placed each seedling in a rockwool cube, gave them a squirt of the nutrient solution, then put them in the tent. They are currently sitting 30 inches below the LED light with the dimmer set to 50%. I am currently leaving the light at 24/0 until both seedlings have their first set of leaves.
