NORBY has a go at MYCOLOGY

DAY 26 Since inoculation

It won't be long until I mix this 1kg bag of Mycelium Rye spawn

With 2kg of Coir/Vermiculite/Gypsum substrate.

So I will need to modify my Monotub soon and remove the bin liners off the outside & tape up the outside of the box just slightly above were the level of the mixed substrate will be.

Drill holes along the the same area and cover with micropose tape.

Drill more holes at the top and cover with tape too, or maybe use filter disc's for the top holes.

It's not like your average monotub tho, It's one of those tall tub/bins cos I lack space in the Den and also the 2kg bag that will soon be 3kg should fit neatly into the tub for the next stage.

The idea is to mix the 2 bags together in a Sterile environment as Sterile-ly as possible and then seal up the mixed bag and put it in the tub again until the mixed bag turns white with mycelium, kinda like the Rye bag is atm

Then open up the bag to increase airflow and add a light bulb into the lid.

Then watch and wait, and adjust the climate if necessary, (mist & fan)

Hopefully that's it lol

& Hopefully by the end of this adventure I will hear colours & see noises

Shake that (Day 26 since inoculation)

Now that the mycelium has reached over 40% Iv decided to give the bag a shake and a shuffle to break up any large clumps so it can mix evenly with the patches that have not colonized yet.

As you can see from the Pic below, there is a stripe on the back and front of the bag that's uncolonised, so a shake was definitely in order.

SHAKE THAT

DAY 28 Since inoculation

Gave the bag a shuffle & shake on Tuesday to mix the mycelium up with the uncolonised patches

Spreading out well again since then.

Got my supply's in order for the next stage & would say I'm not far off now.

I'm thinking when the time comes to mixing the the bags, That I carefully remove some C. V. G first and then leave some colonized grain in it's bag and mix the removed cvg into the grain bag so I've got 2 bags then.

Makes sense, but could be a contamination risk.

I've got a new plan.
As I've got no plants going atm in the DEN and I'm still waiting on soil arriving, I'm gona complete the next stages in thier.
I only intend to grow 6 plants this time round so will have space for a monotub at one side below the extraction fan. Im going down to do a good clean up now and I will decide then if that's the way to go, lol heads fried thing about it

Extra C02 too lol

Just thinking that the light schedule would be a problem unless 20/4 would do ok
