Lighting 12/1 Lighting Schedule

I have grown, using the 12/1 lighting schedule.

I have had a lot of success with it, HOWEVER, I do NOT recommend it for newer growers, and anyone who uses a perpetual(photo-period) grow. Personally I do not now how it would effect an auto, because, I am still VERY new to the world of Auto Strains.

While I could recommend genetics that do very well under the 12/1, they are all photo-period varieties. There are also some genetics that will hermie in a heartbeat, and some will have a very rough time with the 12/12, 11/13, 10/14 cycle down. I have found that Indica's like the 12/1 best, Sativa's do not.

Yes the plant grows very fast, but it becomes very leafy, and it has a weak root system. I have had to stake plants that normally should not need to be staked. I am a somewhat lazy grower, and i did more work in the grow rooms with 12/1 than any other light schedule. My veg times were cut by a good 1/4 of the regular times, which also over filled my bloom room. I ended up giving plants to fellow growers on a regular basis.

I also saved a good chunk of change from my energy bills, because i used 3 600watt lamps in my veg, and 6 1K watt lamps in my bloom room. I also had a mommy room with 2 4x8 T5's. But in the final analysis, the money saved vs the extra money/time i spent on my grow, it was not worth it, at least, to me.

my regular times that i grew under were 20/4 for my mommies, and clippings, 16/8 in my veg room, and 11/13 in my bloom room.

but as life sometimes goes, Mr Murphy decided to show up in force, and long story short, I live in a new state, getting ready to grow auto strains, because they are best for my particular situation. There are definite advantages to the 12/1, and definite disadvantages. It is ultimately up to each grower, and what works best for them.

A documented grow using that method would really help substantiate your claims if you're going to make them. It looks like the general consensus on here is that 12/1 or similar lighting schedules (like Gas Lantern) do not produce desirable results and are generally best to stay away from (there's a reason you'll find most growers use 18/6, 20/4, 24/0.)

Would love to be proved wrong though; what do you say MrWeeds? Can we talk you into starting a grow on here using 12/1 and documented it from start to finish? :d5:

This is a very old Grower Technique called Gas Lamp Method. It works i did it few years ago for 2 seasons but im back on the old known style cause im tired of programming all the timers.I reconized thru this Time that the Plants finish 1-1,5 weeks earlier than under 18/6-12/12 and also tend to be bushy not stretchy. A nice style of growing if u got limited sapce.

I'm familiar with what it is, medic; it's been brought up several times before and every time it usually ends with "doesn't end with good results and not worth doing." The proof is in the pudding and I'm a pudding kind of guy; just don't want to lead our members in the wrong direction with "well I did it and it works, but I have absolutely zero documented evidence of it and I can't be bothered to show you," when there are MUCH better alternatives that are proven to be substantially more stable.

Again, it's just my opinion; but if you're going to push a lighting schedule that tends to cut against the grain; there should be some documented evidence of it. Doesn't that make sense? :dunno:

may i ask a question?if you ran 12/1 (didnt read whole post eyes hurt sorry)were you running organics or soup or chem feeds? Thanks!or have you done all three with this schedule?Inquiring minds wanna kno yo lol Thanks dude.

Check Fb Group 12/1 Army for Documented Grows and i had my old threads on Strainhunters Forum where i grew some Caboose with the Gas Lamp Cycle. Pietri wrote a whole Book bout the Gas Lamp style and as i know he is the biggest Guy who stands in for this Technique.

Sounds interesting bro and I'm sure there are untraditional lighting times that would work with autos, most extreme I've done is 16/8 lol.

Hey medic you got any links to your other grows using this technique? Pm me a link if its on another forum.

Will i run the 12/1 again with AF's? nope......welllll, maybe.

I am curious enough to try, since I am building 2 boxes, i can run a side by side. I would still start the 12/1 box out on 24/0 until it sprouts though.

Sorry All.....butting in. TaNg. How did that 16/8 go?
