Lighting 1st DWC grow, BAM by Pal

Coming along nicely buddy!! Damn my mind is going crazy over LED's atm lol :Stones slap:I mentioned i may want ur advise on rockwool?! A while ago.... Since then iv had one cheese auto fail and i think my 60 day wonder is gonna fail too :(. Soaked the rockwool in ph 5.5 water for 24 hours germed the seeds in a shot glass then paper towel until the root poked its head out put the seed into the rockwool a seeds depth down covered over lightly and watered with a really weak root solution put into a small cup in my grow cupboard with a glass over to keep the humidity up.... What am i doing wrong bud?

Peace

Hey Charles, my first DWC venture is going as I thought it would - complex/frustrating, yet an enjoyable life lesson. Everything you said that you do for germination sounds correct to me but please bare in mind I've only ever used rockwool once and thats what you see in this journal. If you soaked the rockwool at 5.5 ph you shouldnt need to add more water again, you need to try and find a middle ground - not too wet/not too dry. Moist is the key word here. High humidity and a warm environment will help germination but the cup over the top could be cutting it off from the air around it, try placing them in a plastic tuppaware container so its warm and moist in the air around the cube. Other than that I'd ask one of the hydro veterans with proven success time after time, I'm sure they can be a lot more helpful than me :D:

I'm feeling disheartened this morning fellas :( Finally got my PH and EC issues "sorted" but woke up to find lots of roots in the res again - not attached to the plant. It looks like everytime this plant tries to put out new roots to boost growth they're just getting chopped straight out of the net pot. Now I'm not ruling out other option like all the ph and ec trouble but the only thing I can think of is the combination of the pump and diffuser is too strong. Not really been able to get any advice on this either? I've turned off the big pump for now and I'm bubbling the water with a shitty 4lpm pump and regular airstones, I'm hoping I will see more root action now that the water isn't bubbling so hard..to be honest I never expected this to be an issue and I could be wrong - if anyone can jump in that would be great.
I've taken some pics this morning to show you where she's at..it's now day 23 I'm considering germinating a new seed if I can solve this root problem, because I feel she should be a whole lot bigger by now..thoughts? :peace:

Sorry to hear your woes Pal! :(

Seems like we're both having troubles at the moment!
Shake it off buddy, it's too easy to let these things become disheartening, when we can just throw some more seeds down and start again if we need to. (i'm not saying that's what you should do!)

Sending some karma your way for DWC solutions and success!

High five Pal :)

Thanks Blue! Don't worry I'm not the quitting type but I'm so passionate about it I can;t not let it affect my mood, when the girls are happy I'm happy and vice versa :D:

Made a fresh res the same as yesterday after switching pumps so I'll know if it was the pump being too strong for the roots. Only difference to yesterdays res is I only filled it to 13L rather than 15 to hopefully encourage some root growth, all the other DWC plants I've seen at this age have a huge root mass already so the clocks ticking for this little girl..I may up the feed to 1.8 tonight because she looks like she can take it but gonna give it a bit longer first. If it does turn out to be a pump issue in future I'll use it to power two buckets rather than one, but it does mean my only other option is running two of my small pumps for a grand total of 8lpm :D: :peace:

Okay well the pump switch over didn't help at all, still lots of healthy roots just breaking off into the water..I'm guessing it's some kind of root rot going on inside the net pot but I have no way to be sure - if anyone has experience with this feel free to jump in :D: I've switched back to back strong pump now, might as well have more bubbles if they're gonna break off anyways. how many things can go wrong with one plant? stayed tuned to find out because I'm hitting all the bases

Murpheys law LOL
You surely have some troubles.but staying possitive :-)
I wish i could help but never done dwc.
As long the plant looks healthy ish ( she looks better than before)
Don,t worry to much.
I hope she will be a fine ass lady later on.
Stay possitive. Dwc karma on the way
Peace

Thanks bro, staying positive is easy when you have so much love for the miracle that is weed. I appreciate you stopping by and your kind words :smokebuds:

I'm sure she will pull through bro, take this grow as a learning curve if anything.

Thanks Tang man, I'm hoping she will surprise me :D: it's just hard to swallow when you browse AFN and all the amazing plants! Definitely is a learning curve and one I'm happy to take on, the sooner I get through all the mistakes the sooner I'll have some beasts to show off to you guys here at AFN, I can see myself doing this growing malarky for a very long time, life permitting of course :smokebuds:

Not sure if its the DWC set up or the DP genetics or a combination of the two but I have no idea how this plant is alive right now, all the roots get broken off, I didn't calibrate my meters and yet..she lives. I chose the smallest seed from my pack of three so maybe she was destined to remain small :peace:
