Lighting 1st DWC grow, BAM by Pal

Do you top the res with plain water daily? If so there will barely be any nutes by end of a week.

I only use plain water when the EC needs to go lower, otherwise I use an identical back up res - once she drinks the whole 15L I give her a res change :peace:

Just a 2L top up today for my BAM, EC 1.2 PH 5.8. Finally got my Canna PK 13/14 ordered, along with a small hygrometer that can fit into my kilner jars - I wanna make sure I cure this bud perfectly. I will do a res change the day the PK arrives then hit her hard for one week. After that I'll slowly taker her down towards the flush, will only use the pk for one week but may continue the use of the boost just not at full strength leading up to flush. :peace:

Wait I'm not following lol
So you check EC in the morning and if it is kinda high then you think the plant has used more water than nutes and thus you add plain water, correct?
But if you check EC and it's kinda low then you kinda need to add some nutes but you have no idea which nutes a plant has used so there's a risk of overfeeding, right? Or am I missing something here?
This is actually a very serious matter and there's a million plus one answer to this on other boards so I'm kinda trying to learn from different growers. :peace:

Yeah there are an awful lot of different options and methods but here's how i've been taught here on this first grow:
when I make a fresh res I make two instead of one - both identical. If the EC is in the correct place (it will be if you're a good grower) then this second res can be used to top up the main res. Obviously it's almost impossible to find out which nutes the plant is using more than others but if you were overfeeding I'm sure you would see signs of toxicity, because both res's are identical its more like topping up the level than the amount of nutes - does that make sense? I Imagine if the Ec is correct then the plant will use the nutes in the res evenly.
Then we come to the plain water feed. This is only used if the EC has increased over a period of time because it will set the res to a lower EC from which it wont rise.

so to summarise:

The identical back up res won't increase the EC, it just keep the water level topped up.
The plain water feed is used occasionally to lower the EC if there has been a rise (means the EC was set too high - use water to take it lower)

I'm really bad at explaining things so please feel free to ask away I'm happy to (try and) help :peace:

Day 76

Hey guys, I'm hoping my pk booster arrives tomorrow as it would coincide nicely with the 11 week marker, will keep you posted on that. Another 2L top up today EC 1.2 PH 5.8. I managed to get some pics last night as the lights went off so you can see the buds a bit easier and there is one with lights on from this morning. 98% of all hairs are still white which hopefully means they still have plenty of time to fatten up and if my pk arrives tomorrow it will be 4 weeks from tomorrow until the chop. (1 week hard pk boost, 1 week lower EC to recover, 2 week flush, chop)
One last thing I noticed today, the buds seem to have gotten super sticky recently and the smell after squeezing a bud is just incredible, hard to describe but very fruity and skunky at the same time - beautiful :D:

Looking great and like it has quite some filling out to do yet. Even though they are nice and plump already:gthumb::slap:

your buds are getting light bleached right at the tops so id lift the light up if you can, looks pretty good though man

Yeah I touched upon the bleached tips a few times earlier in the thread, the lights are as high as they can go now and this is the first time I've ever experienced it - as long as I can smoke it I don't mind for this run until I get into my bigger tent :D: Thanks for showing concern though buddy I appreciate you stopping by :smokebuds:
