New Grower 1st Grow..Here We Go!

I though it mite be overkill too but i hear it zap at least once a day, but yes needs electricity. But it attracts the bugs with its own light not chemicals so it doesnt need to be put in the room just outside the door. Keeps all the nasties out for me anyway.

I tried the mosquito dunks..both soaked in water, and sprinkled a little on top of soil..still noticing what looks to be gnats.. even going into the soil.. :-( Anyone got any ideas on how to resolve this issue? Just paranoid bc I don't want them getting to the plants!!! "High Team Help Me"

They all look to be getting a bit bigger by the day..still only 2 sets of leaves..any idea when more will come? I need to just cool my jets, I am getting so anxious..Not good :-/

My humidity is also still hella low..anything ive been trying isnt really working
temps good

Update..Well given my temps are high, humidity still hella low and my Ph might be off, they still seem to be getting bigger everyday. Planted my 2nd freebie but it doesn't look to be doing much..O well I guess..I wanted the Cream Caramels and all 5 are alive and kickin..

Still have major what looks to be gnat issues..Mosquito Dunks did not phase that situation, I have noticed in the past few days more than ever.. :-/ I want to get an organic solution to put in the water and hopefully that will knock them out but I wont have money for like a week and a half.. I may need Ph Up as well. I tested my water and it was high so I got Ph down last week, added a tad of that then it went crazy low. I am positive my waters Ph is off but I wont be able to resolve this issue til next week either.

Humidity I don't really know what to do..Tried everything but a humidifier but I am just thinking even if I do get one, I don't think I can have it in the tent so I don't really know if that will even make a difference? My temps are getting pretty high as well. Not sure how to cool the room down. I have a fan outside the tent in the main room on. I am kinda worried bc once the odor comes, I am going to need to always have tent door completely shut but its gonna get soooo hot!

Well this is the situation I am currently in..I will post new pics later tonight..They all look to be doing really well exception of a runt whose just so freakin cute. Stay Tuned for pics shortly!

A couple of things about using the dunks. How long did you let them sit in your water before putting in the soil? In my experience, it can take days for the BTI to break down and really get into the water. I put them in a bucket for at least a week, and then continue using them throughout the grow if I have gnat issues. It's not really something that can be done quickly. Assuming you've got a good enough concentration in the water that it permeates the soil, you then have to wait a bit to see the results. The bacteria kills larvae, so you will still see adults for a week or so. But they have a short lifespan and won't last long with no new flies surviving to take their place. I use a fly strip to catch them while I'm waiting for the BTI to work. There is also a liquid form of BTI that would remove the step of letting the dunks dissolve into the water. Looks like one bottle would last a lifetime since it's made for ponds and water features: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=12263. Gnatrol has a similar product with BTI as well.

Alright heady, in the words of Jonathan Davis from Korn, "ARE YOUUUU REAAAADY?!"

Let's get your environment under control!

What are you current average temperatures?
What's your current average humidity?

Could you please post a few more pictures of your tent?

Instead of pics of the plants; let's see how your carbon scrubber and inline fan is setup.
Let's see your vented hood and how you've got that setup.
Let's see your fan you have outside the grow space.
Let's see all the port holes you have in your tent (the openings where you would stick your duct through, usually 4" or 6" circular openings.)

What's the ambient temperature in the space OUTSIDE the tent?

Do you have any active air intakes for the grow space? Or are you just drawing air in from the (looks like three?) passive vents in the tent?

As far as humidity, what have you all tried so far so we can cover what's been done and what hasn't been tried yet? If the decision is made you need a humidifier, there are humidifiers that are pretty small that pump out some moisture; don't think you need some epic monster in there. Combine it with a cost effective humidistat (works like a thermostat, but for humidifiers,) and you can pretty effectively control your humidity levels.

If you're looking to raise it up on the cheap, have you tried the wet towel method? Soak a wet towel in water and stick it in a bucket (some people hang them if they have the space, you look a little cramped in there.) I've personally done this in small grow tent and raised my humidity by nearly 10% for a few days. It's ghetto, but might work if you can't afford the coin for a humidifier.

I've never dealt with gnats on my grow before, but have you checked out the Hospital / Infirmary for Sick Plants?
I would put a post up in there describing your situation and explaining what you have all tried. Lots of very specific helpful eyes in there when it comes to diagnosing and treating plant symptoms. Would highly recommend trying down there if you have not yet.

Since this has been on-going for you; I'll post this up for my fellow High Team members to try to take a look at too and see if some of them can't comment on your gnat issues.

I know these little nuances can be frustrating, but it sounds like despite them you're doing well with your grow! Let's see some pictures of everything and how the ladies are looking! :wiggle: And get excited, we're going to get this fixed up! :wiggle:

Here's a little motivational :slap: to keep you going! Get those pictures up and we'll see what we can do! :karma Cloud:

Nice, you got great help hear Heady,

Good Karma's against the gnats. and maybe you should try Gnatrol, an organic water addative. Is that the one you were looking at?

Peace

Eek

My average temp is between 86-88 degrees.. My humidity is always stuck at 16..every now and again it'll go up to 20 but only for a sec. I know that is probably really bad but I don't know what to do...I have tried a pan of water with fan blowing, and damp towel..Also bought something I stick in the water to create bubbles but all of that not phasing humidity..

I have not started using intake/filter yet..My setup probably looks super ghetto but i got it to work..I don't even know if its right though..so i have a bit of ducting coming from tent to connect to intake which is sucking air through the fan then through ducting and down into the filiter...Seem legit?!?! I know I am going to have to start that thing up probably soonish..

Well here are some pics...2 seem to be sticking out with the most growth, then there's another 2 that seemed to be tied up with growth then I have one that is still pretty small..Weirddd..So i guess some grow at different speeds?!? I am switching their spots around in the tent on the regular and watering the same..Lemme know watcha think!

Should I be counting days from when I planted or when girls sprouted?? I guess it would be 10 days since they've sprouted and like 15 days since I planted.
