New Grower 1st Grow..Here We Go!

i know..i can see them but often not enlarge them..its been a pain..but it will be good again :Sharing One:

:tiphat: Hi Heady'! I just rolled through your thread,.... good brother Andy is a skilled long-time veteran here, never mind what his ID stat's say,... he's spot-on for the gnat treatment! Dunks are a biological weapon, basically,.. these bacteria get in their guts and ruin them, but not overnight... a very similar product with a strain variant of this bacteria is used to control caterpillars, without hurting other bugs and plants,... the disk type dunks are meant to be left floating around for slow release, so crushing them up thoroughly before adding water and soaking for a couple days helps activate them faster,... I also put a little food source in there for them,... very weak plant nutes and sugar or molasses (1/8 strength, 1/2tsp./gal)... When I did this and treated, they were gone within a few days, and never came back! -besides, unless there are plague level numbers of them they aren't particularly harmful, just annoying!... forget the sand trick; it'll work, but it sloshes around and out of the pot, and blocks your view of and access to the soil surface,....redundant with the dunks anyway.... *** Hobbes has some good tips for ya too!
Also, I found these cool granule packets at OSH,... likely you can get them online as well,.... 017.jpg...so, if you don't see numbers dropping soon, try my trick with the nute's in the water, for a couple days... then just water as normal, okay?

Having a tough time with gnats.Damn things flingin here n there.LOL!You can get some revenge n fry em right outta the sky with a hairdryer set to medium if i remeber right.ya can take out some frustrations on em.careful of your plant(s) though.it was always hit or miss for me when I used Dunks.I prolly used them wrong to be honest. Ive always have had 100% success with SNS-209.Outdoor and indoor, organic or Nute,Systemic.Im guessing similar to gnatrol.Im not too familiar with gnatrol though.Best of luck and karma for getting them Gnats n things Gone.:Sharing One:

Yeah I mean I am probably being impatient.. It has probably been just about a week now since I started the dunks.. First time I watered using them , I had not even let them soak in the water for even an hour.. I just watered a little again this morning with a dunk that had been soaking in the water for days so maybe that'll help..I have also been sprinkling a little of them on the top of the soil and then misting. Ughh they're just so annoying..I am just going to stay positive and hopefully those little fuckers will be gone soon..

As far as your temps go, how close is your light to your plants? Can't tell from the picture but it looks too close. I am running a 400 watt light too and at that point it might be too close.

One other thing I thought about regarding the dunks is that high levels of chlorine can kill the beneficial BTI bacteria. The dunks are designed to be used in ponds or other standing water, not with tap water. So make sure you only have them in water that's been sitting out and outgassing the chlorine for a day, or else use them with something like distilled water.

Eyes on Fire, SNS-209 is a bit different as it's a systemic botanical extract that essentially makes the plant taste bad to pests. It's a good insurance policy against plant-eating pests like mites and caterpillars & I use it on outdoor grows of canna and vegetables. It doesn't kill the pests, but rather makes the plant uninteresting to them and they move on. Not sure how that would work in a closed environment like a tent where there's nowhere else for them to go. The BTI based treatments actually wipe out the next generation of pests, but will only work with those that have larvae in the soil. In case anyone was wondering, Mosquito Dunks, the various granules and liquids for ponds and fountains, and Gnatrol are all the same thing. They use BTI to attack the larvae in the soil. Gnatrol is overpriced as it's sold by grow shops as a specialty product for fungus gnats, when in reality any BTI (bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) product will work just as well and usually cost less.

I buy gallons of water at the store...filtered/distilled...no tap water here..

Prize~ Umm lights probably 12 inches to 24 inches from girls.. I thought I read where close is good but maybe not?? How far away is your light from plants??

thought on humidity: a bowl of salt will suck moisture out of the air. Uncooked rice should also work.
